I gained 30 lbs when I broke my leg and was immobilized for 4 months! I started walking as soon as I was mobile, and it took 10 months, but I walked it all off! I walked in a local mall 5 mornings a week. I started out 15 minutes a day, then worked up to 45 minutes (3 miles). It helps to have a walking buddy. It makes the time pass and you are more likely to keep at it.

Sure. However, losing weight is not just dependent on walking a certain amount of time per day. Weight loss requires a caloric deficit (i.e. burning more calories than you take in). So, you can walk 30 minutes per day and also gain weight if you are eating too much. You can also lose weight without walking at all, if you eat fewer calories than you burn.

I think you can, I started walking just 20 min. Slowly went up to 30, it seemed to me the walking would supress my hunger. I ened walking up to 40 min. after a while, lost 40 + Lbs.

Absolutely! 30 minutes/day is the minimum amount of exercise suggested for adults. Also, walking is the most efficient form of exercise. If you are consistent and pair your brisk walking with a balanced diet, you should see results very soon.
