he hates choccy so an eggs out of the question and we've only just got back together so i dont wana get him something too special any ideas

I would dump the guy. If he is allegic or something from chocolate, then its ok. But no self-respecting man does not eat chocolate simply because he does not like it. But if he is one of those, he also probably a guy that sometimes doesn't want to go to the store because he doesn't like it.
In any event. There is a lot of easter candy out there that is not chocolate. If you want to get him something he hasn't has before, try one of two places. The local dollar store should several versions of cheap candy by people you never heard of. Tell him its imported and he'll think its special. You just have to wrap it.
You could also go the honest route and go to a place that sells gourmet candy that is expensive. Depends on how you feel about him.
My girlfriend would need to like chocolate before we start going out. If she didn't, I would look somewhere else.

Get him his favourite confectionery or savoury snack if you really have to buy him something. It's only Easter and people only get Easter eggs, so I wouldn't worry too much. Now if it was his birthday/Christmas then I'd be wondering. Relax
