I think shortbread is the best cookie. Sooo buttery!
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 pound [4 sticks] unsalted butter, softened
Method
Heat oven to 325
Beat all ingredients in large bowl of electric mixer on medium-high speed until smooth, about 4 minutes. Divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll out 1 piece of dough at a time on lightly floured surface, to 1/16 – 1/8 inch thickness. Cut dough out with cookie cutters. Bake cookies on ungreased baking sheets until pale brown and slightly firm to the touch, 8-10 minutes. Remove to cooling racks. Decorate as desired.

Homemade from scratch, any kind of cookie as long as it is made from scratch and not a "box" cookie. This is just from a man's perspective but ANY kind of cookie your little girls make are perfect also.

How do you define perfect? Oatmeal raisin is good because it has fiber, fruit, spices and could almost be considered healthy. (except for the butter, sugar...! )
