The date of conception is difficult to determine, as conception does not always happen on the same day as the "act" that makes it possible. Plus couples may have more then one such "act" in a short time span.

Plus the custom of celebrating birthdays was around before science had determined how/when conception occured. So at that time celebration conception would have been impossible.

Plus, even today a large number of (through much of history most) conceptions did not result in a birth - miscarriages, diseases, stillborn, death during childbirth etc. So the celebration was of a live birth, not a beginning of life. In fact, in many culture a baby was not named or celebrated until it had been successfully weaned (usually around 2 years of age) because of the high infant mortality.

B) It was started this way because parents wanted to save themselves the pain of naming and celebrating then losing a child before birth.

C) It's called a Birth-day as in the day a mother gives BIRTH to a child.

D) What does this have to do with pro-life or legalized murder?

E) Was this a desperate attempt to justify murder?

F) Many cultures do celebrate conception-days. Just not the USA.

Celebrating the day of birth seems like a reasonable thing to do to me. But just because we do that it in no way says that life does not begin at conception.

It's harder to pinpoint the date of conception.

But there's plenty of scientific proof that life DOES begin at conception. I recently saw a picture from an ultrasound taken at six weeks. It was most definitely a LIFE, even though its form wasn't entirely human (it still had a tail, but its head and arms were very visible).
Last week, I went with a friend to HER first ultrasound, and I got to see the baby (she's a little over thirteen weeks pregnant), AND I got to hear the baby's heartbeat.
A person can try to justify abortion all they want, but it doesn't erase the fact that from the moment of conception, it is a LIFE.

Maybe its because we don't know when the conception date is? Do you know how pregnancy works? Many women don't conceive on the day that they have sex. A woman could have sex on Tuesday and conceive on Friday.

Anyways, I suggest that you go to this site. It shows a video of an abortion being performed at 12 weeks. You will actually see the baby move away from the machine. The heart increased as well. The movements are agitated. You can tell that baby senses something is wrong. See for yourself.

The date of conception is usually estimated because a woman generally doesn't know or suspect she's pregnant until she misses menstruation. So the actual date for most would be not available. Live birth, however, is 100% that day.

A) This is not a valid argument for abortion.

B) Celebrating a "conception day" would be vulgar. Let people with morals decide these things.

However, Life begins to me the day the heart starts beating...

Because woman lost the knowledge of when she can concieve in the garden, That was the womans curse. & not even a Doctor can tell you the exact second of conception, But they can estimate it, But a birth after it happens is a reality. Then we can know the exact second of a birth.

You can start a new tradition. Celebrate your children birthday 9 months earlier, no big deal. As long as you dont terminate an innocent life.
