The world would be such a different place without religion that I don't think anyone can predict what it would be like, let alone place a value judgement on it. My suspicion is that people would just find something else to use as an excuse for the behaviours many use religion to hide behind. I also think there would be lots of genuinely lost people, and that can't be a good thing.
There's nothing inherently "wrong" with the concept of religion, it's just that lots of people aren't nice, basically.

Yes and no. I'm an agnostic, so I don't think that religion in and of itself is bad. Who am I to tell someone that their beliefs are wrong, I can't disprove god? On the other hand, I find organized religion repulsive. The world would be a better place if these cults were done away with.

It would be a better place if religion were to stay out of "it."
Unfortunately!
The Church and State aspect is becoming a reality. And the Christians will get the blame for "it." When in all actuality "it" is the "religion of man" who deems 'it" necessary to bring about total control of men.
"It" is already set up and the change is happening behind the scenes, while everyone picks and blames other parties for all their troubles. In this way "it" can move about accomplishing tasks without being hindered.
Now all are waiting for "it" to show up and by "it" will all be amazed, except for those "who know" what "it" is.
This "it" is a form of technology created or made by man's work of their hands. And through this technology, the masses will be fooled into believing "it" is the Saviour of the world.
Through the wireless technology "it" will control the financial world. Through wireless technology "it" will perform miraculous signs and wonders from the heavens, because of the technology of "satellites."
"It" will lead many if not all astray with the technology made or created by man's hands.
Once "it" has convinced many that "it" is the Saviour, "It" will declare "it"self as GOD! And those that refuse to worship "it" will be put to death. "It" will mark all that worship "it" through technology which "it" is and "it" controls.

I don't think so. People just think that because of the two big false religions who caused all the awful crusades. The CATHOLIC CHURCH and MUSLIMS! The real Christians don't believe in war or violence (look at the war protest in Washington DC yesterday)--the Roman church is NOT a true Christian Church..it mixed Babylonian concepts with "Christian" ones. The Muslims are just idol worshippers without knowing it. But this does not mean that all people in those two religions are bad! And I think ALL religions teach us good morals and would make the world a better place--IF PEOPLE ACTUALLY USED THE TRUE PRINCIPLES OF THEIR RELIGIONS AND DIDN'T TWIST THEM TO FIT THEIR POLITICAL AGENDAS! May peace come to us all!

The issue here is not religion as such, which can be very beneficial to a lot of their followers, its the zealots that insist its their way or no way that cause the problems.
We're all going the same place, just using different routes to get there! I don't understand why that should be an issue for some people

Religion doesn't cause wars. After all, people believe in all sorts of different things, not only different gods. It's the people who disagree with what the other believes in that causes wars. If there was no such thing as religion, these same people would fight over something else. It's human nature for some.

I have always believed that the world would be better without religion.Throughout history religion has been at the heart of many if not all conflicts and misunderstandings between peoples. Usually promoted by self seeking so called "prophets/priests" promoting fear and anger in the name of a spurious "God" figure they cannot substantiate if everyone who is/was slave to this propaganda stood back and examined that which they are being fed they would realise that they are being conned.

This question has been asked a lot. In some respects it would be since people who are of the "same" religion fight over minor disagreements, like the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland and the Sunnis and the Shites in Iraq. They believe the same basic thing–why can't they just accept the others? Probably in general it would cut down on the fighting, but it wouldn't be long before there would be something else to fight about.

Let's see.............no more using religous differences as an excuse for war or prejudice. Diversion of funds away from churchs and into things like medical research. Allowing for depression and other mental illnesses to be treated properly without religion compounding the problem.
Golly though, all those people who are believers have to think for themselves and take full responsibility for their lives. Plus they'd have a bit of extra time to have fun on weekends if they didn't have to go to church.
Yeah..........I think it might be just a tad better.
