Why does meat cost so much when it is produced in this country, we import New Zealand lamb which is cheaper

Breeding sheep can be risky and expensive, with less opportunity for profit than just raising a market lamb.
Feeding sheep is an expensive and inaccurate business

Because in this country we have the highest quality standards in the world so we have to pay extra. However, if the supermarkets wouldn't import meat from farms that are not of high standards and bought more meat in this country the prices would go down so blame the supermarkets for their unfair treatment of the suppliers in this country
