I don't know how much he drinks, but being a thug is enough to sound the alarm bells. Why would you want to be with someone like that? Your mother has more experience of life and knows what people are like. You're too close to him to see the full picture. Once a thug, always a thug. Dump him before you have no say in the matter. By that, I mean he might not want to lose face by being dumped, and make things difficult by threats, stalking, etc.

that depends on how much he drinks and smokes and what you mean by thug. if he is a chain smoker, has liver damager and beats up old people to support his habit - then you dont need to ask. if he has a glass of wine and a cigar once a month, and once squash a spider - then you know the answer there. only you know how bad he is, so only you know if he is going to cheat on you, or die of liver disease / lung cancer, before he is 30.

eih i think girls are very inclined with changing the bad guys into good guys that's why you're into him..we want to feel that they could change because they love us..but actually it's quite impossible to change someone who doesn't like to change at all..but if you love him for who he is you must be really in love..but do know you the saying mother knows best..maybe you're mother can feel something..they just want what's best for us..mother's intuition..but if you think you can prove her wrong then go for it..just be careful because most of the time mothers are correct..if it's worth all the fighting then go for it..

you need to ask yourself whether you like thugs that drink and smoke ( and probably down the track abuse you no end ) --- but he is not related to your mother ( yet ) --- you decide --- but approach with caution . good luck

yes, your mother is right and she cares about what happens to you. going out with someone like that you are only asking to get into trouble. but that is my opinion, but you are the one who is going out with him and you are the only one that can make that choice. just be happy.

if he love the drink more than you, then yes. you don't want someone with vices that he would put before you. if you asked him to quit, would he do it for you? if no, then maybe you should leave.
