Congratulations - yes they do! As you head toward your 40s your body has a change in hormones that lighten and/or shorten periods, slow down the rate at which leg and other body hair grow, decrease under-arm perspiration and increase in sex drive once you get into your 40s. The down-side to this is that your skin also gets drier - no biggie - get some good moisturizer and enjoy the rest of it!

If you're worried see your doctor.
My periods always were two and a half days on, then a break and then another two and a half days but I would only have three, maybe four a year.
I was disgnosed with PCOS and when I started treatment, they went to five days every month. The treatment stopped working so the doctor took me off - I'm currently having blood tests to see if anything else will work (my eight plummeted by eight stones when I was taking the tablets - they stopped and it all went back on) but for the past year, although I've been having a period every month, they are only lasting one day. Sometimes just hours, I don't bother wearing any protection sometimes.

i think every woman is different...my mother went thru the change and hers was a nightmare...constant bleeding. be thankful. 2 days of bleeding is a blessing ! although ...your only 38 i would think you got a while to go before the change. couldnt hurt to talk to your dr about it when you go for your yearly check up.

Perhaps you are in the "peri-menopause" stage. You should see your gynecologist/doctor.
