Cows get struck all the time. That is because they gather around big trees when a storm comes. I know of 10 cows in my area that were killed in one lightening strike while under a big Oak tree. If you notice, most farms will not have trees in the middle of a pasture.
I can't understand why Fire Ants don't die when the ground is struck.

Even animals get hit by lightening every so often, I now about two cases, that happened in my country during last year; once a thunderbolt stroke a herd of sheep, they ( 60 of them ) were all dead, the other time six cows got killed on an Alpine
pasture near their shed...

Animals do get hit by lightning. They just don't go on talk shows to tell about it afterwards.
