First of all DON'T put cling wrap on any tattoo. It's for food, not skin. It won't let your tattoo breath and heal properly. DON'T use vasaline, it can draw the ink out of the tattoo, as can neosporine. Your bra shouldn't bother it as long as the sraps aren't too tight. If they are a problem, then try a convertible or stapless bra. Try strapless, racerback or crisscross, and try halter for your straps. I have a tattoo on my shoulderblade. It didn't really hurt (I have 3 tattoos) so unless you have a really low pain tolerance then you should be fine. Keep a thin layer of A & D ointment on it for 3-4 days, then keep it moisturized with plain, unscented, uncolored lotion for the remainder of the healing time. I wore loose t-shirts while it was healing. Not too baggy, just not really tight. Keep it out of the sun while it's healing, and try to keep it out of the sun as much as possible afterwards or it will fade. When you go outside, make sure that you have sunblock on it, SPF 30 or higher. Don't swim while your tattoo is healing (pool, ocean, hot tub, anything!). Take short showers so your tattoo isn't in water more than it needs to be. Pat it dry, don't rub it. When getting the tattoo done, wear a halter top or tube top so it will be easy to get it done without having to move any clothes. Consult a professional with any questions. They do this for a living and can give you the best answers.

If you go to a reputable tattoo parlor, they will give you all of the instructions needed to care for the tattoo. I have had mine (on the shoulder blade) for 6 years now. I followed the guy's advice and it still looks nice. The only warning I'd give you is to be prepared for the tattoo to be tender even years later. When I get tired, my tattoo hurts. When my blood sugar drops, my tattoo hurts. It's weird.
Oh, and by the way, I got married last year and wore a dress that exposed my tattoo. I don't feel I looked trashy. As long as your tattoo is tasteful, I don't see a problem.

well i cant talk 2 u about pain because people tolerate pain different, but after care... i sure recommend u to use strapless bra... cuz that will be in total contact with the tat and damage it... im sure ur tattoo artist will tell u how to take care of ur tattoo, but u have to keep it lubricated with a gentle cream without alcohol like "curel" because the skin becomes really really dry... and with the cream u will loose that skin.. and have ur tattoo cured. And when u wash it just scrub it with antibacterial soap (even if it hurts a lilttle) cuz that the way u get rid of the dead skin! Good luck =)

I am not even going to try to tell you aftercare instructions because my artist told me wash it every day with antibacterial soap once a day and put unscented lotion on it but if you get a tattoo done they will probabally tell you something else. Everyones aftercare instructions are different. I will tell you I just got one there, and wear a tank top or strapless shirt to the tattoo place. Also invest in some racerback tank tops and strapless bras because my regular tank tops and bras did irritate the heck out off my tattoo.

You have to do the strappless bra thing because it will hurt like HELL!!!! if your bra strap rubs against it. Well, depending upon how big you get the tattoo. I got my son's name on my back right shoulder blade and it hurt!!!!! The person who did it, did it big and dark and right directly on the shoulder blade. A lot of people told me they got it right off the should blade so that it wouldn't hurt so bad, so there's a thought for you too if you don't like pain.
A tattoo on your shoulder blade is like any other tattoo, don't rub, don't scratch, no direct sunlight, you can bathe as usual. Out of all the tattoos I have, I chose to get them in the most painful places: (back of the neck, shoulder blade, middle lower back, ).

Not that I agree or disagree....But with something as simple as tiny stars, the whole argument about the stencil is bogus. A good tattoo artist would not need to use a stencil of any kind for this, not to mention all the stars on her face are not perfect which tells me he drew the stars on her face prior to tattooing or just free handed them. My professional tattoo artists does NOT use stencils.

getting a tattoo on the shoulderblade is no different as far as the process or the aftercare than any other tattoo. you can wear whatever you want as long as it is comfortable. i don't find wearing a bra comfortable ever but it is particularly uncomfy after a back tattoo. i usually wear a tank top or t-shirt on my bare skin. then a bra and then whatever shirt i was going to wear. that way there is a soft buffer. it sounds dumb but it has worked for me.

i didnt wear a bra for the first few days just an oversize mens shirt. I found the shoulder blade to be bearable pain compared to the others. remember to stay out of the sun and chlorine isnt good for it either when it is healing so stay out of the pool etc. I used a cream on mine called bepanthen which is an antiseptic cream that tattooists reccommend in australia which is basically nappy rash cream but it is fantastic. wash it gently no scrubbing and dont pick at it it will heal in its own time. thats what i did with mine and it healed great good luck

I would think you would bring a bra with straps when you have the tattoo done, so that the artist sees that the straps don't cover his art.be sure to ask the artist about after care
for his work,he knows best, that includes washing.
good luck.

i have one that is at the top of my back in the middle but spreads out to my shoulder blades an all i had to do was..keep it out of the sun, also theres a cream i got from the tattoist which was called Tattoo Goo. sounds horrid but it is really good, keeps its clean and helps mae the colours more radiant. bathing is ok as that way it gets cleaned too. maybe avoid putting lots of soap on it though. just warm water over that part.
