It's tradition, that's all. Breakfast used to be one of biggest meals of the day to give people energy for the work day ahead. Different countries and cultures eat different things for breakfast, some eat fish, beans or tomatoes. When my daughter was 3 years old I could not get her to eat breakfast food. I mentioned this to her doctor when she went for a check up. He said "Does she eat lunch and dinner? Give her what she likes for breakfast". So, she would have green beans and spaghetti or a ham sandwich for breakfast. As long as you're getting a healthy meal it doesn't matter.

Sorry - too much thought for 8:00 a.m.
Need my bacon & eggs for protein to fill me up til lunch & my coffee for some umph......
Alot of people do eat bacon & eggs at different times of the day. Nothing I like better than pancakes, bacon & eggs for dinner, unfortunately it sits very heavy for the rest of the evening. Lots of people eat bagels for lunch too.
Everything you've listed is high fat & high cholesterol which is why there are so many obese people sitting down to bacon & eggs every morning.

Propaganda. Edward Bernays was the leader of this. he actually coined "Public Relations" because the term propaganda was tainted by the Germans during WW2
One of Bernays's favorite techniques for manipulating public opinion was the indirect use of "third party authorities" to plead his clients' causes. "If you can influence the leaders, either with or without their conscious cooperation, you automatically influence the group which they sway", he said. In order to promote sales of bacon, for example, he conducted a survey of physicians and reported their recommendation that people eat heavy breakfasts. He sent the results of the survey to 5,000 physicians, along with publicity touting bacon and eggs as an ideal heavy breakfast, and superior for health to the then traditional breakfast of tea (or coffee) and toast.

The Wikipedia link Big Jay posted leads to an interesting explanation.
I actually love to have bacon and eggs and toast for dinner on occasion. I'm not a big breakfast eater either, sometimes toast or yoghurt if I'm feeling hungry.

Honestly, I believe it started with the old farmers around the
1900's and beyond.
Eggs were free from the chickens, pigs were probably a slaughter from the barn etc. Plus, the food held them from getting hungry while they toiled the fields until they probably had their second meal (and last) of the day.
Actually, quite inexpensive, and hearty at that time, with there root vegetable (potatoes) and homemade bread (flour and water).

We just think that way. Personally I will eat just about anything for breakfast. Cold pizza is one of the best "to go" foods for breakfast..
