Why not try them with a simple jacket potato, then they can choose there own fillings, beans, tuna, cheese, anything they like.
Quick and easy meal, yet very filling.
Good luck, i know how hard it is trying to think of different meals ideas for a family.

If you have a crock pot you can put chicken breasts or pork ribs (bone in or boneless) in the crock pot and put a bottle of BBQ sauce, about 1/4 cup brown sugar and a little cider vinegar in and let it cook all day on low or for 3-4 hours on high. This is an easy recipe and so yummy and the best part is that you can use it on chicken or pork.
Good luck.

chicken breasts
1 can cream of mushroom
1 can cheddar cheese soup
Throw all in the crockpot and cook low for 8hrs or high for 4hrs
pull chicken out when done and spoon soup over the chicken.
I always serve with mashed potatoes cause the soup makes a delicious gravy serve with a vegetable and you have a delicious and nutrious meal:)

A really quick lasagna thats really good.
Use ravioli instead of layering the noodles and cheese. It's already inside the pasta (if you get the cheese kind) then layer w/ a meatsauce and sprinkle with some mozzarella. It's really good and always gets rave reviews =}

'Junk food' need not be bad if you use lean meats, fresh veg etc.
Cottage/shepherds pie
Curry
Chicken/beef casserole
lasagne
steak and onion pie (use shop bought flaky pastry, all the top chefs use it!)
chicken and mushroom pie
lamb/beef stew and dumplings
meatballs and spaghetti with tomato sauce
stuffed peppers
barbecue style pork steaks
paella
savoury pancakes with cheese sauce
Jacket potatoes with various fillings, butter, cheese beans, coleslaw, tuna
fish pie
chilli con carne
hope this has given you a few ideas!

chicken fajitas - fry chicken strips, onions and peppers (with or without fajita spice mix, depending on whether your kids like spicy food)
Then all you have to go is buy tortilla wraps, salsa, and sour cream and grated cheddar (if you like) and put them in little dishes and your kids can make the wraps themselves - they love doing it!
its quick, simple, fun and delicious and you can sneak vegetables in without them noticing!

Mix it up a bit. Make bangers and mash but instead if using normal potatoes use sweet potatoes. It's delicious.

you can make a spinch and tuna pie which you can freeze and then deforst as soon as everyone is home.
you can make a dish of pasta with beef (pasta such as cannelloni) and put it in the fridge then bake it as soon as you're home.
