Anxiety and depression are closely linked but this seems to be more like a phobia; the car accident hasn't done you any favours has it. Do you have a C P N or a Support worker, these people can be really good at helping you to overcome your fears and phobias. There is a book aswell which is excellent, you'll be able to get it out of the Library, it's called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway, by Suzanne Jeffers. I do hope you get better, fear of the unknown is an awful thing.

It's normal after something like that to experience fear and post traumatic stress.

But really, tell yourself, what is so bad about death? Sooner or later, we all must die.

This experience should teach you that life is important. That every single day you wake up and open your eyes you are blessed to be given another day.

Don't let your fear death take away your joy of living. If you do, you were better off dying in that accident after all. You didn't however, and you didn't for a reason.

Take that fear and turn it into strength. You can do it. Embrace life and take this as a life experience that has shown you life is truly precious.

My young son had cancer. He is in remission and hopefully it will never rear it's ugly head again.

I live with that fear and pain deep down every day too. But I don't "live" there. If I did I could not function.

You have to just learn to mentally take that fear and put it away in a box and file it somewhere...it's there...but it's not running your life you know?

Be stronger than your fear and find something positive to do with your life. Get help from a support group but get involved with something or you will drive yourself crazy with your thoughts.

My son just had a bad accident in November (He was hit by a drunk driver) and I do have a lot of anxiety about him all the time. However, I know he can't stay home all the time and hide so he will be safe. He has to live his life. Now that he is walking again and can drive a little bit, I know he will be back out in the world. I also pray for his protection every day and leave him in God's hands. No amount of worrying or anxiety is going to change anything. But I believe prayer does. I would say just remember that it is all in God's hands and that your worrying, anxiety, and fear is not going to do anything good. It will just disrupt your life.

just dont worry that much, ppl worry all the time but if you worry you should be always worried because a car can hit u like that, or a killer can turn around the corner and get u, or a plane can crash into your house, or a meteor can crash on your head, or lightning can strike you down, or.......

You see where im going? being worried is not good for you and it has no good reason to do it, because something bad can always happen.

You really need to get a life. Do you have many friends that you go out with regularly and have fun. Are you part of a 'fun' group, I mean, sports or other activity. If the answer is no, use all your energy to make it a yes. You will change once you are interacting with other people and enjoying yourself and seeing that nothing bad is going to happen, and if it does, well, you can deal with it like everyone else.
Good luck

Use the breathing technique at http://deeplyrelax.com and practice for 20 mins daily, and when necessary, the method at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat: "easy". Also repeat it in your mind as you get in the car: Tai Chi & yoga can help, too.

How the **** would herbs help? I have a generalized anxiety disorder, quick, get the oregano!

You need Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I think anxieties work well in group therapy. If you are on meds, this is the next step.

Also, why are you against meds?
