One story, brick, utility room, large den with my school projects still on the built in shelf on the right wall, above the built in bookshelves that have at least 100 books I never read and never saw anyone else read, the sliding glass door to the back porch that I've ran into more times than I can count, average kitchen with dining area where my aunt taught me how to make peanut butter cookies and a large pantry that I guess will forever smell like onions, formal living room with 3 couches I couldn't sit on unless there was important company, two floor to ceiling windows that I hated to clean, that antique table hand carved in Germany with a 2 in thick slab of marble on top that I freakin love, and those damn Thomas Kincade paintings that all look the same to me, formal dining room with the chandelier on a dimmer that I still play with when I visit, the dresser thing where all the "good" dinner and silverware is kept, the 3 leaf table that's the best hiding place, the ugliest yellow carpet ever, with darker curtains. My room had 4 windows, 1 of which I would sneak out and meet the guy that became my husband, a ceiling fan I broke 2 blades off of when I hit my friend with a huge stuffed bear, and a step in closet that had more of my aunts shoes in it than anything, 2 of my dressers and 2 of my aunts and a curio in the corner. The master bedroom has 6 windows, the only other ceiling fan in the house, a walk in closet where all 3 walls are crammed with clothes that still have the tags and my aunt will never wear, but still can't get rid of bc she might one day, vanity table in the wall that I would sit at when I was 5 and play princess, and attached bathroom that still has that huge rug I hate. The 3rd br is my uncles office, and the 2nd bathroom is across from it, and it still has the mark on the clothes hamper where I kicked it when I was 12. The front door is hardly used since the driveway leads to the one in the middle, but too bad if both garage doors are down. Come back later. The front door is heavy and oak and you have to throw yourself backwards to get it open, especially if it rained. The glass door on the other side makes that hissing noise when the spring catches so it won't slam. The middle door everyone uses has a row of bells on the top inside and sometimes I still wake up thinking I hear those bells and thinking my uncle is home from the store or coming in from mowing. The front yard is a hill that goes almost to the highway. It takes 45 min to mow it in 4th gear on the John Deere and I used to get $5 for doing it. The backyard is a little smaller and my old basketball goal my uncle made me from what I think is a 6 foot telephone pole and the backboard he cut out and painted himself is still up in front of the well house, and the grass still doesn't grow right from all the days I spent out there. There is a well behind the well house that still scares me, even though there's a concrete cap on it. There's 2 iron T poles for a clothesline, but I never saw it used. There's a flower bed where I would get caught in rose thorns everytime I had to get my basketball out. There's my uncles ham radio antenna I used to climb and get on the roof so I could sneak a cigarette when I was 14. It's a great house, with greater memories, and it will always be my favorite place.

Oh for crying out loud, there are loads of family homes. Some homes practise religious things all the time. Some families do everything together. Some families have a lot of arguments. Some families try to avoid each other. Some families are tightly-knitted.... So, A) tell us what the family is like. If you don't know, then I suggest you do before you begin writing. And B) do it yourself; it's the only way you're ever going to learn and improve. Asking for ideas is the easiest part, as I hope you will soon find out!

One story. It was a two bedroom but dad made garage into big master bedroom---so now 3 rooms. Big living room but ugly brown carpet. Nice remodeled kitchen with hard wood floor and nice wooden cabinets with nice sink and dishwasher. Downstairs basement-----cold,dark,stinks,laundry spot, scary. Two bathrooms, mine of which was redone AFTER I moved out(go figure). Big backyard, little front yard. Swing set from childhood still in backyard. BIG deck on back of house that my dad built when I was one. Um, it was a really loving home. My parents were the best and cared for us (my brother and I) almost too much. I had a perfect childhood, I sometimes wish I could go back and never get older so I could stay there and live the happy life I always had as a child. I also lived in a small town, three blocks aways from the school so my friends and I would go there and play on the playground during the summer time. It was great.
