Hmm, if reading isn't doing it for you, why not try to get to know people who follow different faiths? Why not try a temple, mosque, synagogue or church and go for a few weeks and get to know some people there? Ask them how they experience God. See what they say. Maybe you'll find what you need.

As for your question about the sects of Islam, the division came about after Muhammad died, when some felt that his nephew Ali should be in charge, while others felt that Abu Bakr should be in charge. Why would you base your spiritual search on whether one sect of Islam is more strict than the other? Try to figure out for yourself whether Muhammad was a holy man of God and whether the Quran is the word of God. That should be your basis for discernment. But never stop searching for the truth.

All Muslims are brother. Prophet Muhammad said that you Muslims would be divided in future but the one on the right path would the one which follows my way; hence the name Sunnah(the way of Prophet). In his lifetime He lived peacefully with Jews, Christians and the pagans. I don't understand how can we, who call ourselves Muslim hate each other. Prophet Muhammad said we Muslims are all brothers. In Iraq, it's more pollitical than religious.

I'm a Sunni, My car is a second-hand. Guess who was the owner-a Shi'tte! Last month we did a barbeque, Even my Shi'tte uncle(father's friend) came and we had so much fun. I think the mass media is very manipulative and leads people to generalise what they see. I don't hate Shi'tte's! I like them very much.

I all religions there are believers who are very strict and other with a more relaxed view. Take Christianity alone, there are literally hundreds of sub-branches who have different ideations and interpretations.

So, YES, there will always be people from all religions who practise a different level of strictness.

WHY that is, well, I guess there are as many views as there are people in the world, so it is just natural to me.

All religions are *supposed* to be about peace and forgiveness. However, there are fanatics in all religions that distort doctrine for their own agenda. In Islam there are 2 main groups, which I think is what you are referring to- Shiite and Sunni. They have very different political views but all believe the same basic principles that make up Islam. The problem comes in the interpretation of these principles. Unfortunately these differences cause ugly battles and power struggles. I don't think their fighting is hate-based as much as it is a battle for control.

I am not sure I helped you, but I hope I have.

No one hates the other, if you are refering to the Shia's and Sunni's in Iraq. You have to understand there are more factors in play here than religion. In Iraq it's about political control.

There are many schools of thought on a single issue but you are free to make your own mind, you are not here to please mankind.

"Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
Blessed are those who mourn. They will be comforted.
Blessed are those who are gentle. They will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for God’s approval. They will be satisfied.
Blessed are those who show mercy. They will be treated mercifully.
Blessed are those whose thoughts are pure. They will see God.
Blessed are those who make peace. They will be called God’s children.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for doing what God approves of. The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, lie, and say all kinds of evil things about you because of me.
Matthew 5

Reading ABOUT religions will not help you find the answer.

Read the New Testament (Bible) and see how Jesus lived and what He taught. Only in Him can you find peace.
