You almost always speak about logic. Yet you can not explain even the basic reasons behind natural selection and evolution.
You say our story is a fairy tale. Our story has a starting point. Yours has nothing. And is it logical to believe that life simply happened?

acid zeb, thank you for proving my point.

nilhilist, I so glad that you and you alone have all the answers as to evolution.
Even the scientists that study the concept don't claim to know that. Very good.

kit f, Again, thanx to you for proving my point. And you should know that a very smart person said, "education does not equal intelligence."

acid zeb, I could call you a jackass but that would be belittling to the jackass.

silly_fu, please read the other answers and see my point. Didn't know you were a fan, thanx. And my point is that, this is the R&S section and surely, even you can see that the only reason these people come on here is to belittle us. That should obvious even to you.

2007-03-19 01:26:48 · update #5

mia, you are so funny. I have a wide nasty streak? Because I am sick of being called ignorant, stupid, retarded, uneducated, and on this question, a jackass, a brick wall? You, of course, are one that accepts their argument. That is, to start an argument and belittle others and then try to say that they started the same argument. I do not go on other sites or sections related to science and tell them that they are stupid. And another of their "views" is that we are not tolerant. But I think we have been tolerant enough.

Again thanx for being a fan, you silly_fu

Paul S, so I fight back a little and that is my fault? Quite a lame answer, really. Didn't notice anything in my question where I called anyone a name.

2007-03-19 01:45:34 · update #7

well folks, most of you have proven my point. NONE of you know me. You have assigned a name to me though. I am a Christian. I do not go to any church and never have. I have little knowledge of the Bible. And I do not believe that the earth is 6,000 years old. But I do not believe in evolution either. Evolution is not proven. Nor is the voodoo science called "natural selection." If, we, 'humans" had gone though a process of natural selection then why are we the least of all primates, physically? I mentioned the Bible because I, personally, believe that it contains a lot of useless info. And a lot of errors, simply because of how it was written and the translations of it.

When I went to school in the late fifties and early sixties they had just started to introduce evolution. There were charts on the walls of many classrooms showing the "monkey to man" concept.
I thought that was unbelievable. So now that is changed to the common ancestor.
And what will it be 20 years from now?

I had to add one more comment after reading all the answers. JUST WHERE IN THE ABOVE QUESTION DID I CALL ANYONE A NAME?

Well so far you've been called warped, jackass, and a brick wall.
I call that belittling. What do they call it? Highly intelligent?
UPDATE: And much more.

This question has been asked many many times. The answers remain the same.
Natural selection and evolution can be explained quite easily but there are none so blind as those who do not want to read all about it. Try it before you make yourself look even more ridiculous.
Your fairy story has a starting point long before the current christian thing. Almost all of it (christianity) was 'borrowed' from earlier religions, since debunked. Again, some insight into the history of religion would serve you well.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing and you clearly have very little knowledge.
Come back when you can provide a credible alternative to the Big Bang hypothesis (which didn't have 'nothing' as it's source) and Instant Life and Evolution. We atheists just know for certain that you cannot do such a thing.
Fairy stories are not credible evidence of anything other than how gullible mankind is, even in the 21st century.

Many of the "non-believers" here that I've seen haven't 'belittled' anyone, actually many Atheists are quite passive and would prefer to simply discuss rationally than strike without provocation.

As for the beginning of life and whether it be Bible truth or Evolution truth must totally depend on each individual. We are all different in our own ways so why is it so puzzling that we are all different in our thoughts and beliefs as well. Christians may believe in the Bible and God and Jesus however each Christian believes in his/her own way...they may act similar when gathered, but the differences are there...every week when they leave the Church, each Christian acts, talks and looks differently than the day they went to church. Nothing wrong with that.

It is the few on both sides of this topic that are the ones instigating the irritations...not the entire sect of non believers or even Christians for that matter. So wrapping ALL non-believers into a tight little package is like non-believers wrapping ALL Christians in one as well.

I wonder what a world without this kind of rift would actually be like...would we perhaps get along in an entirely 'peaceful' way? We couldn't possibly get along any worse.

Belittle Us? Who are you, or who are we, to be held in high esteem? Do sheep defend the Shepherd? What logic do we speak? Are not the ways of God above us all?

And the story we love? Is it ours, or is it Christ who died for the saving of the world? "I love to tell the story, t'will be my theme in glory! To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love."

We are not the real issue. The issue is anything that smacks of the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel is not debating God or defining the cosmos. The gospel is not academic but specific. It does touch the cosmos, but primarily in the essence of man as a sinner. Man, whose nature is to hide from God and seek his own destiny through his own efforts.

Non-believers, then, come here because they must. It is God's call that the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will produce the sword of controversy and reviling and persecution and mockery and more.

If we suffer anything it should be for His name and not our own. I hope you see this as it is an easy trap to fall into and the result is that we do not give Him the glory.

Imagine that you were Stephen who answered by the Holy Ghost; with the history of God's working and only accusation given him from the Lord. Yet while they were fixing his death his response was "I see Jesus" not "why are you doing this to me." His final shout was a prayer for forgiveness of his enemies not a cry that "this is not logical."

So my friend, the believer ..... this is also a spirituality forum, just in case you did not notice.

If we can explain everything, we do not need to explore further. Hence, hypothesis starts with true and false then prove it. Your story is a fairy tale, because even if we would to say assuming god is real and he is the creator, who created him? No one can answer, the believer just believed he was there, however, how can we not say the universe was there?.

You Story do not have a starting point .... if based on your "starting point", mankind has only 6000 years of history and all stem from 1 pair of delinquents. Does it not makes you wonder, prior to 6000 years, what happened?

The story in the bible felt man made for their own justification.

Can you please tell me why is it illogical to believe that life simply happened when you can believe god was just simply there?

First off, stop generalizing a group of people that you decided to catagorize as knowing nothing. Second, stop acting as if you 'know all' because NO ONE knows all. That would make you a wise person. You are no where near that. Neither am I. Third, most intelligent atheists (not those who are juvenile in their thinking who say we just came from dirt) do not believe that life simply happened. Life comes from the energy that creates us. Not some fictitious being. We are here to live, learn, & grow. We were not put here to please some false deity. I find it rediculous to believe to be some all powerful being's play toys.

Non-believers come here to answer the questions. I see almost no believers who come for any reason other than to make ignorant and nasty comments like the ones you just made. Just look at your question and follow-up comments: you're here to insult others, not to participate. So, apparently, are most of the other believers who answered your question.

Why do you believers come to a forum on religion and spirituality if you have no knowledge of or interest in discussing those topics?
========================
"Didn't notice anything in my question where I called anyone a name"

LOL. Read what you wrote again, liar. Are you unaware that the rest of us can see your comments? You should have taken the time to understand how the forum works before you tried to lie about your actions on it.

Well, the first problem with your premise is that you assume non-believers = evolution theorists. This is not necessarily the case. For many, even if evolution was proven incorrect, they still wouldn't believe in God, they would just accept that science isn't at the point where it can't prove such ancient events, etc. And evolution doesn't purport to have a starting point, that is what the Big Bang Theory attempts to explain.

And to answer your question, I would say that believing that life simply happened, is just as logical, if not more so, than saying that some androgynous sky being created the world in 6 days.

I happen to enjoy discussing religion and politics. They are two subjects that fascinate me. As I read through most of what believers post here, I percieve a sense of fear from them of stepping into the deep water of accepting ignorance over stupidity. I don't know how the universe started ............and niether does anyone else here.
How about you get your head out of that silly work of fiction that christians cling to and open your mind to some of the logic that non believers put forward on this site.

Just wanted to say that I don't believe in god. And I didn't know there was a battle going on in that section too.

I can only speak for myself, and I come here for the sake of discussion. I have a logical/rational view on the world. This view on the world includes atheism and evolution (please note that these are two different things), and while this view of the world indeed has no starting point, it has inherent logic, i. e. all parts fit into each other, and there are no contradictions within. This does not mean that this view is perfect, of course I am open for new insights, and when these insights contradict my present views, I am prepared to review them.

Yes, it IS logical to believe that life simply happened. It is one possible explanation for life (I hope you see at least this) and up to now it is the only valid and logical one.
