since Jesus is the 'more than a prophet' who said 'heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall not pass away' how do Muslims listen to Him as they acknowledge Jesus as a prophet and 'the gospel' as from God

or is it a different Jesus they mean?

In the name of Allah the most beneficient the most Merciful
In islam a Muslim cannot be called a Muslim if he does not
believe in Isa,{jesus peace be on him ] The son of Maryam
[ Mary peace be on her ] as on of the mighty messengers of
Allah the almighty.A Muslim is also required to believe in the
Injeel [ that is the gospel of jesus peace be on him ].But
unfortunately the the Bible that the Christians posess today
is not the original Gospel of jesus because it may contain
words of God almighty and Jesus [ peace be on him ] but it
also contains words of historians , absurdities, obsceneties
as well as innumereble scientific errors. There are some
scientific prophecies but can you attribute scientific errors
to amlighty God.Besides this Bible has been revised so many
times and so many changes, additions, and deletions have
been made that no two biblical versions are the same.So we
will take the portions that the Quran agrees with and regect the rest.
Now as far as jesus is concerned if jesus [pbuh] has said
something Vertabim then we as Muslims will never argue
about it because of respect for jesus [ pbuh].
If jesus said that he is more than a prophet then we have no
problem we know that Jesus was also a Messenger oF God
almight because all prophets are not messengers but all
messengers are also prophets. For example John the baptist
was only a prophet he came with no message nor did he
perform any meracles but jesus was a prophet who came with
a message and he also performed meracles with the help of
God almighty.so he being more than a prophet is justified.
When jesus peace be on him is quoted as saying that his
words shall not pass away here again we Muslims have no
problem because we have understood the missiom of christ
jesus[ pbuh].Jesus peace be on him made it very clear that he
had not come to destroy but to fulfill the commandments which came before him. we Know that messengers are sent
with revelations and laws by God almighty and all these
commandments will be applicable for always. We believe
Jesus when he says that he was sent only to the lost sheep of
isreal. But the christians put words in the mouth of jesus[pbuh]
and try to implicate more than he said.We Muslims are
closer to Jesus than the Christians because we respect him
and give him his rightful place as one of the mightest
messengers of Allah the almighty.

In Islam, we believe that Jesus (pbuh) was a prophet of God. We know that the Bible is a message from God. However, we acknowledge the fact the Jesus (pbuh) was not the son of God, because in our belief God is not human and therefore can't have children. In Islam, we believe that there are errors in the Bible and we are not the only ones to realize this. Many scholars have pointed this out as well. Anyways, this is what we believe.
Many Christians are quick to point that Muslims are wrong when we Muslims believe that Christians, Jews, and Muslims all believe in the same God and worship him in different ways. So it all depends on who you are.

1. Christians believe that Jesus (pbuh) was the son of God and therefore should be worshiped.
2. Jews reject Jesus (pbuh) as the Messiah.
3. Muslims believe that Jesus (pbuh) was only a prophet of God.

Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, and more than a prophet. But the muslim religion states that the words of the prophets have been lost or mistranslated over time. Mohammed provided the last "true" words of god. And since the Quoran is always copied by hand from earlier scrolls, and they have recorded Quorans that go back to mohammed's time, they say their words are accurate

As opposed to christianity where it has been translated multiple times and each different translation brings bout different meanings and defintions. Since YHWH = Jehovah because of mistranslations into German... it is a valid point.

So they believe that Jesus is a prophet, but that the words the christians have are not the correct words.

we , Muslims believe that Jesus ( pbuh ) is a prophet like Adam . Noah, Musa , etc
All of them call us for one and only one true God , whom everybody feel that he exist somewhere sometime in his heart, however , the bible is not direct speech from lord , so it is not accurate 100% , but The holy Koran is more accurate , it had never changed or added . The holy Koran in the age of prophet Muhammad (pbuh ) is the same in our book.

Most important Jesus ( pbuh ) ask people to follow prophet Muhammad ( pbuh ) and he called him ( the comforter , the spirit of truth )

If it was said by Jesus for sure, Muslims will believe . No doubt in that. Muslims belive all that is said by JESUS. There is no doubt in that. The only thing left is to decide upon what is said by Jesus and what is not. Qur'aan is the best guide in this respect and you can look into Hadith for more information.

They don't listen to the Lord Jesus.

They'd rather listen to a war monger who took his ideas from uncanonized texts (Barnabas) to suit his agenda.

Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

No, if, ands, buts or guffaws about it.
