It really depends on the bar, i have worked in loads of bars and only remember handing in 1 cv or resume, the rest of the jobs i got simply by walking in and asking for work, i always offer to do a couple of hours work for free so they can see im capable of the job. Also i have been asked by managers to work in their bar as they know ive done barwork before. Id say have your resume handy and just go in and ask for work, offer to show them what you can do and be willing to start immediately.

It doesn't matter what job you're going for, a resume always looks more professional and shows that you take pride and interest in the job and respect to the place of employment.
