There are many kind of tails - straight, curve, slightly bent at the end. What makes it different and what do they have(specialties) for each kind of tail?

The tail difference is just like the colour differences, genetic. Sometimes injuries in utero can determine the shape and size of a cat's tail.

When did this happen?

Dixie is very smart. I have not noticed that many tails on humans, and she has a deep understanding of the "superpowers" (did anybody ask?) of tails.

A cat's tail is for balance when jumping and landing.
