I bet you can drive a car after smoking 3 cigs... Let's see your abilities after 3 fatties...
As long as it could be done in a responsible manner.. I wouldn't have no problem with the junk being legal. But if you hurt someone in an automobile accident while on the stuff it should be just like a alcohol conviction.
Personally what they should do instead of convicting people of minor possession is make them do community service.

Marijuana is a plant given by nature like all others. That is, its not man made, theres no additives nor is it genetically engineered.
The main reason governments make it illegal is because they cannot monitor it or tax it because it can be grown in your own back yard.
In my country if you are busted with a roache (marijuana butt) on a friday, the police will take you to jail and process you, keep you in jail until the following monday and sentence you in court. At best you will get let off and sent home, at worst you will be given 100 hours community service or fined $100 if this was a first offence.
The cost of processing a person, keeping them in jail and getting you into court for sentencing in front of a judge will costs about $3500. So to be fined $100 just seems a waste of good tax payers dollars, a waste of government resources and well ... a total waste of time

A waste of police and court time and money.
It is proven that marijuana usage is less of a problem than alcohol (both in social repercussions and health implications).
In the UK, I would like to see a relaxing of the laws towards the Dutch attitude (ie. OK to carry a small amount for personal usage) with licensed outlets for purchasing your stash.
Put it this way - towns and cities in the UK are fouled up most weekends with youngsters getting ripped to the t*ts on booze, puking and peeing in the streets, causing vandalism and petty crime, and wasting a shed-load of police time. I'd rather see money spent on tackling this problem, than convicting a few poor old pot smokers who generally do no harm to anyone else at all.

the government is wasting our tax dollars imprisoning and arresting people of such a ridiculous crime. Marijuana is not even as bad as alcohol and it is ludicrous that it is illegal. The united states has more people in its jails than any other country. we should be focusing on imprisoning murderers and not people smoking a little pot. our tax dollars should be helping America's starving children and not being wasted away on convicting people of laughable crimes.
