My children are aged 3 and 5. As we always eat together, they basically eat the same as we eat, but I suppose I make little variations according to their individual tastes.
In my experience, young children like food to be simple and recognisable. So a banana sliced with fruit compote over it, plus maybe a bit of yogurt, is fine--and really quick to make. (You can make a lot of fruit compote and freeze it.) In the summer, when we pick bilberries, I boil up a small amount of the berries with a bit of sugar, and tip it over the top of fresh berries; you get the flavour of the cooked ones along with the vitamins of the fresh ones.
For side dishes--my kids, and most other kids, I think, like separate pieces of food that they can dip into sauce. A lot of children don't like a mixture of food; if I'm making a chicken and veg stew for me and my husband, I put separate pieces of chicken and separate bits of veg, not touching one another, on the children's plates, and they dip them in ketchup or mayonnaise for themselves if they want (you can get healthier versions of these if you want). Alternatively, I save things like peanut butter for vegetables; if the kids know the only time they get peanut butter is on cucumber or celery, they will eat the cucumber or celery. My 3-year-old is now very fond of cucumber slices spread with houmous, and my 5-year-old likes the same with peanut butter.
I hope this is the sort of thing you want; I'm not really a recipe user, and I tend to feel that whatever you spend most time on cooking, will be left on the plates by the children.

One simple smoothie I like is generally made with a yogurt (like a single serving container or about that amount) with a couple bananas and frozen strawberries. A little ice and a splash of some kind of milk (I like soy or rice) and it makes a very delicious smoothie. Usually enough for two people. Adding protein powder, especially vanilla, makes it creamy and adds good proteins. You can get flavored yogurt to change it up, or try other fruits. Frozen fruits make it easier to have a nice smoothie and also keep around without spoiling so you're always ready to make one. I found that bananas are really nice for smoothies and go with almost any flavor while adding some creaminess.

my children love fruit by it self and accept it as dessert because i,ve always presented it as such.after the meal) we very rarely have rich desserts so they accept fruit as a sweet.
most times i serve a mixed tray of fruit from which they can choose, like strawberrys ,apple slices ,bannana chunks ,orange slices, grapes. and a dip. they really like to handle the fruit and dip it.
the dips i make can be as easy as a pre-stirred yogurt with fruit.(already sweetend) or plain yogurt with honey.or a little more complicated like--
2 cups peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
small pkg. craisins
1 small pkg.shelled sunflower seeds.
mix these together leaving some seeds for garnish.
this dip also works well for veggies.
it seems the simpler i make it the more receptive they are to eating it.my kids seem to prefer raw over cooked fruit.
they also enjoy helping to prepare fruit.and arranging it.
hope this helps a little, good luck ><>
oh i forgot! somtimes i sprinkle nuts like almonds or walnuts on the plate too.they like the different textures.

NO! Children should eat all kinds of stuff from Hot Dogs to Oatmeal.
Every day there should always be something different.
Don't do fun things with food. Make it look good...but not fancy.
Forget what you believe is healthy food. All foods have value.
Variety is the rule.

How about a fruit parfait? Use strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. You can substitute yogurt for the ice cream and you can sprinkle nuts and a cherry on the top. That is a pretty healthy dessert.

oh this is fun, make some jell-o let it set a little bit then add some fruits of your choice (I prefer berries) then if you wanna make it fun for the kids take cookie cutters with any shape and serve. You can do the same thing just with fruit and the cookie cutters.
