Actually I will give you TWO since you opened this up to read it.
A. Being honest with us women will go a million times further then lieing ever would. And yes guys, even in that area.
B. A man who is sensative to our emotional needs (not just chocolate needs) is very likely to get, shall we say, treated VERY nicely.

I don't think that this is very accurate because I am always honest, relatively sensitive (but not a pushover) and have my life on track yet have never really got anywhere with a woman being like this.
Instead what I have seen countless times is guys winning-over women in front of me who are:
cocky, liers, cheats (usually cheating on a girlfriend) and they certainly do not need to have much money or any sort of fitness/career.
Perhaps the characteristics you mentioned are useful for a husband, however I'm not sure if singles should take this advice

No, but seriously. There are more to relationships than just honesty, believe it or not, but women want to have a sense of adrenaline for men. They want to have a spontaneous attractiveness we men feel all the time when we see a hot woman (think about Jessica Alba or Kate Beckinsale and you'll know what I mean). It's the feeling that they want! I guess honesty will somehow contribute into that but honesty in itself will be sort of useless without additional factors.

As for emotional needs... that can go for all humans I believe, not just women. Treat a woman like a human (maybe a bit better if you want to 'specialize' her) and I think you'll be set. Call a woman and say you were thinking about her, give her a hug when you feel like it, etc. Gifts, in my perspective, aren't only in the form of chocolates... there are much better and cheaper ways to get the attention of women. I personally love poetry so I write poetry to my friends all the time.
