This is caused by low pressure in your ear canal not neutralizing when the cabin pressure increases. Your eardrum is the membrane between the differential pressure.

You shouldn't have a problem until the aircraft descends. If you do experience it on climb or cruise I would suggest you consult a doctor.

For the most part try not to fly with congestion or sinus symptoms. Normally jaw movement will relive the symptoms so try chewing gum on descent. If the block is severe hold your nose, create an inner-ear pressure by trying to blow out then swallow. This usually works but you may have to do it a few times.

You will need to do something that is called "equalizing". As you go up, the pressure lowers and the air in your ear canal stays the same. A forced yawn a couple times will do the trick.

Your ears hurting on an airplane is actually caused by low pressure... the pressure on the airplane at cruise is usually around 8,000 ft. but depending on where you live, the pressure could be 0 to 6,000...
Many people chew gum or force a yawn as said before....

Forcing a yawn will usually clear the blockage pretty quickly. If you have a severly stuffed head, you should NOT fly! It may be impossible for the pressure to equalize and you may experience severe pain for several days.

Either chewing gum or the Valsalva method which is popping your ears by plugging your nose and trying to blow through it.

Quick fix, just force your lower jaw to the max and it will equalize the pressure.

THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN USE TO STOP IT COMPLETELY.I FIND SUCKING SWEETS HELPS DURING TAKE OFF AND LANDING. ALSO BLOWING YOUR NOSE CLEARS YOUR EARS IF THEY HAVE POPPED.
