Men who prefer women with long hair are usually MCPs and those handful of men who prefer women with short hair are the ones respects women ... these are the true gentlemen!

It's more feminine on most women. Men are wired to look for and at women who look like they would produce attractive children. Long, healthy hair is considered a good trait for indicating a healthy breeding body. That's the prehistoric part of our brains coming through. Most women prefer men with short hair as we perceive that as being a masculine trait. Who looks more masculine, a long haired rocker, or a Marine? Who looks more feminine at first glance, a woman with long flowing hair or one with a short do? It's the first few seconds in which our brains are sizing up a potential mate.
This is a purely scientific answer. Socially, these trends change from decade to decade. I have a picture of my great aunt in 1910 at 17 years old with a flapper type cut. And some women might like short hair, but can't carry it off..I have very long hair, and sometimes envy the women who can wear short hair and look great. It takes a certain bone structure to carry it off.

You are generalizing. It's a preference thing. I like women with short hair. Other guys like women with long hair. Some prefer blondes where others prefer redheads.

to each it's own, u have some men that like women with long hair as well as with short hair it depends on the man and his preference..my hubby liked my hair either way, as long as he has me that's all matters..he says " change is good"

Long hair is just much more feminine and therefore more attractive.
The men who answered to the contrary are really gay and like fantasizing that their short haired women are really gay men.

It's a generalisation that doesn't stand up (or deserve insult) but I have long hair and the men in my life have said that it looks good spread over a pillow ...

as snotty said, it's because girls w/ long hair look feminine. but 2 me it doesn't matter. it's the way u wear it that matters. take for instance Halle Berry http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000932/ a girl 2 be liked she has 2 look nice. w/out that shes just another guy from behind and sometimes from the front 2

Seriously I believe it started in prehistoric times. You know, the club on the head and drag by the hair. Short haired women couldn't be dragged.
