I think you mean LEONTYNE Price. Yes. She is one of the best. Amazing. Full of depth - She can sing Mozart- she can sing Puccini. Her Wagner is phenominal - her Carmen is illustrious. Oh my what a voice! And what a nice lady she is, too. Very personable - but remember, she is truly a star - treat her that way - with tremedous respect.

Her name is Leontyne Price and she is an American Opera singer. Yes, she is also African American which was a pretty big deal back when she was singing. Her most famous opera performance is Aida. She is said to have owned the role for 30 years! I hope I get to do that someday. Hope this helps, best to you.

Leontyne Price IS an African American opera singer (she lives in NYC) basically Marion Anderson is the first to truly open the door for African American singers in this country but Miss Price blasted that door off its hinges with her rich and vibrant voice She is still considered one of the best opera singers today and her recordings are prized items (try the live version of Il trovatore by Verdi with Franco Corelli)

Yes, I'm sure you mean Leontyne Price. There are some great clips of her on YouTube.

She was one of the leading sopranos of her generation. A glorious voice, with a huge sound that seemed effortlessly produced. I was lucky enough to see her in my teens.
