First off (young) people don't use the phrase "nowadays". Some words and phrases most commonly heard would be: awesome, sweet, that's tight, what's up (sup), how's it hangin', dude, cool, that's hot (TM of Paris Hilton),.....anyways, that's just to name a few. Not saying I use all those phrases though.

Depends on what group of people you're talking about.
Certain people like to refer to others of the same race or even different race as a previously offensive term.
Others like to say Hi, or even the letter e.
