Itching gums is not a common symptom. It may be caused by gingivitis or periodontal disease but these conditions are not normally associated with pain and / or discomfit. Other causes include sensitivity to something that has been in or near your mouth, infections like sore throat or colds and over crowding of your teeth. I would urge you to see a doctor to find out the cause. Yes a scratched gum is capable of healing fairly quickly providing your gums are healthy.
