You also need to follow the following lice removal tips:

- Since the eggs of the lice are attached to the roots of the hair, you should physically remove the eggs from the hair one at a time.
- Comb your hair with combs made of fine bristles after taking the bath.
- Shampoo hair at least 3-4 days within 2 weeks. Comb your hair when wet.
- Wash your clothes as well as bed clothes in very hot water.
- Your clothes and things that cannot be washed in airtight bags.
- Carpet and upholstery in home as well as in car should be vacuum cleaned frequently.
- Soak brushes, combs, headbands, hair ties and barrettes in rubbing alcohol or shampoo meant for killing lice for at least an hour or destroy them.
- Avoid hair drying of your hair after applying the anti-lice medication. The medication may contain certain highly inflammable chemicals.
- Do not apply shampoo and conditioner before the lice medication.
- Using sprays or pest control to kill lice can be dangerous, since they are highly toxic.
- Do not use the same lice medication more than thrice. If the lice still survive, it means you need the stronger medication and accordingly opt for a new alternative. But at the same time, do not use 2 treatments simultaneously.

If youre willing to use hair color... it works WONDERS. Lice shampoo has to be used 2 times or more and then you have to use the stupid comb..which doesnt really get all of the eggs out...so color your hair or whosever...thats the easiest way.

Oh, also disinfect ANY materials with hott heat and chemicals. Put stuffed animals in a tight garbage bag and store them for a week. I had lice for 2 years...the shampooing didnt help..it kept coming back.. but when i used hair color..it never came back.

Here's what you do (learned it in Entolomology class so it must be true!).......cut your hair as short as you can stand--but I'm not saying you have to shave it. Then coat it heavily in Vaseline and put a shower cap on. Keep it on for 12 hours then wash out the Vaseline (it might take a few washes....) The Vaseline suffocates the lice. They can't breath, so they die.

This should either kill them all or greatly decrease their numbers. Pick the rest of the adults and eggs out with a comb and if you have to, repeat this procedure.

Good luck!

Simple just shave your head...with no hair for the lice to live in they'll be gone in a hurry. Lice is probably why Britney Spears shaved her head too and she looks even hotter now.

The shaved head is the coolest thing, everyone is doing it...it's "à la mode".

So check out the site below and start shaving!

If all else fails, as they did in our case, use lamp oil. Saturate scalp, cover head with a shower cap. Leave on for a couple of hours, then shampoo thoroughly with a gentle shampoo. Check scalp and hair for lice and nits daily for one week. It's the only sure way.

SHAVE, everywhere, otherwise you should get someone to go through your hair and pick out all the dead lice--after you wash it in a lice killing shampoo. And, wash EVERYTHING in Lysol--and then spray EVERYTHING (clothes, bedding, cloth furniture, etc) with a spray that kills lice (and then wash again, before using). RID is one brand.

You have to do these things or infestation will reoccur.

There are several shampoos and treatments available at the pharmacy to get rid of lice.

I also know that Prell shampoo, because it contains marigold oil, will repel lice. Note that it won't kill them, but it will keep them from returning.

So once it is gone, use Prell on all clothes, towels, and bedsheets to keep them gone.

Hope this helps!

This is tried and true. This really works, inexpensive and no chemicals.

Use mayonaise, spread the mayonaise on the hair then place a shower cap on and leave it in for about 4 hours. Then wash hair. The mayonaise suffocates the little buggers.
While you wait it is good to vacuum every thing for example pillows, sofas, place all stuffed animals in airtight bags for 24 hr. wash all combs and brushes.
