Though listed in your phone under Martial Arts, today it's nothing but a bunch of fancy Hollywierd stuff. In sport karate for all your money you become part of the fast growing masters of SCREAMING! or what I call a bunch of useless so-called self defense. Try and use that fancy c rap on the streets, good luck, it would be easy-er to give up your cash to a thief than sign a contract.

In the United States, I'd have to say Tae Kwon Do. A close second is Karate.
We could make an argument for Tai Chi. However, since the vast majority of its practitioners only regard it as exercise and not as a martial art, we have to exclude it. Regardless, Tai Chi is a martial art, albeit severely watered-down.

tae kwon doe is obviously the most practiced but anyone who has been in a street fight or an mma match will tell you that is almost completely ineffective. 95% of fights go to the ground where jujitsu is the most effective and will probably pass tkd in the coming years due to the popularity of the ufc, pride and other mma organizations
