Send her to Japan to teach English- that way she can experience the culture that spawned the animation- but actually work and make money at the same time.
It's good to do that sort of thing while you're still young.

No! She'll only be young once! My 16 year old daughter would dress in "Sweet Lolita" (another Japanese style--bizarre to me, looks like a 1 year old in a pageant dress, baby bonnet and everything!) if school didn't have a uniform. She's even trying to go to Japan as an exchange student so she CAN dress like that everyday! She's totally normal, a straight A student. I don't understand my daughter. I just love and support her. (Oh, by the way, she used to dress like Sailor Moon in public until middle school and the uniform.)

hehe. believe it or not thats not that wierd. (Us) Anime fans are very dedicated. i used to wear cat ears to school every day(me and my friend) until the teacher had a fit and told the administrators. (hehe) but just let her do it. i mean what you wear is not nearly as important as who you are. there just clothes! it's no different that wearing a uniform, wearing all black, or dressing 'preppy'. just clothes. besides she 20 shes way past old enough to decide what she wants to wear.

Its a phase. My parents never spoke up against my means of expression. Some people use their way of dressing as a means of expression themselves. I would walk the streets half naked at times but my parents trusted my judgement and let me be. I outgrew it and I am rather successful. Let her be her own creation. Your say in parenting stops at 18 and from here on up its her expressions that prevail but she will never lose sight at what you taught her.

It's a form of self expression. The more you detest it...that more she will want to do it. Just let her express herself. Just be sure she doesn't get herself into loads of trouble.

you've got to love her for who she is not how she dresses. it could be worse. she could do drugs, drink too much, or any number of criminal things. be thankful she expresses herself in a non destructive way. if you love her you love her. you can't judge her just because she looks different!!
