Although they don't have to, some atheists are homophobes. It is probably caused by the way they're brought up. Anyway, as long as they don't bully or physically assault the gays, they can simply be ignored. Christians however, are homophobic because their religion requires them to be homophobes. It something like a commandment.
However, I know that it is said in the bible that eating shell-fish is an abomination. So in many cases, Christians who loves to eat crabs or anything like that make excuses to get away with it. But most Christians would never accept homosexuality because they're selfish. It doesn't affect them, so they don't have to accept it. Many of them start quoting the bible, but they're just finding excuses to justify their actions.

I believe that homosexuality is a sin, just like adultery and fornication. I don't fear it. I don't believe in discrimination. I don't hate homosexuals, I don't advocate hostility towards ANYONE. I disapprove of sexual immorality.
Homophobic does not mean PREJUDICED, it means one FEARS either homosexuality, and/or homosexuals. And not EVERYONE who believes homosexual behaviour is a sin FEARS homosexuals. I am not homophobic. All of the people I've ever met who were/are homosexual, I have no problem with. Most I've liked. I don't base my friendship on whether or not a person is sexually active. I don't believe in discrimination. Hiring and firing people should be based on how they do their job.
Homosexuals don't do anyone any favors by labeling EVERYONE who believes homosexualITY is wrong as a homophobe. It's as bad as those who discriminate against people JUST because they're homosexuals.

Homophobic is a left wing term for describing "the problem with people who disprove of homosexuality". It sounds like a mental illness & it is meant to.
I lived in a house for a year and a half with three other guys, one of whom is gay. We are all still friends.
Here is my thing. I don't care that you like to play with wieners. Seriously don't see how it effects me.
However I do have a problem with people who would refer to you as a "******". I would correct them & now I will correct you.
If you live outside the US, have a nice life and don't read the rest of this.
If you live in the States here's the deal. My ancestors moved here so they could practice their religion however they wished. So if people choose a set of beliefs that is in conflict with yours, you should have have the grace not to feel compelled to insult them.
You call people whose beliefs don't match your own words such as "bigot", "prejudiced", "homophobic", & "homophobe". Which in mind does not seem like a good way to coexist with your fellow man in a harmonious fashion.
Your post about the "evils of homophobia" is no better than the pseudo intellectual post by arabs saying that we should not have troops in Iraq because it is "zionism". That fantastic buzzword being used to describe the evil jews.
Your post is inflammatory & it undermines various religions. It is laced with hate.
How you cannot see that you are the gay equivalent of the drunk red neck yelling "rump rangers", completely blows my mind.
Here if you like living with your hate; watch this video. It will be more stuff you can talk about on top of your soap box.

Or you could just grow up and realize that you are just as wrong for hating them back.
If you can't do either you should go have a drink or a smoke or something. You are way too tightly wound.

The very term "phobia" implies fear and hatred of a certain thing. I really believe that the inclusion of "disapproval of behaviour" is a political statement, meant as a legal way to bully people into changing how they believe.
I disapprove of cheating on one's taxes, driving recklessly, and committing adultery, but nobody will accuse me of being a "kleptophobe", a "speed-o-phobe", or an "adultery-phobe". Yet, for disapproving with an action, already deemed sinful by my God, I am labeled a "homophobe". Why?
I have no hatred for, or fear of, people who are openly gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. I therefore do not deserve the label!
If you disapprove of my faith in Christ, does that make you a "Christophobe"? Does that make you an anti-Christian bigot? Are you prejudiced against people of faith, and against their cultures?
Or do we just disagree?
Labeling is bullying.

Its because of the fact non secular people might extremely fellow than think of & they do it ok. Its on the subject of the management & their formula for ability. in the process history dominant political communities have maintained help & stepped forward their agendas by ability of making examples of minority communities & playing to the irrational fears of the final public. check out Nazi Germany or Bushs so called 'conflict on Terror' I recommend analyzing, God isn't super: How faith poisons each little thing -by ability of Christopher Hitchens. Ive only finished analyzing it & it makes a marvelous type of wonderful factors consistent with sound good judgment. some thing non secular leaders are exceptionally much completely incapable of doing because of the fact of their would desire to look infallible interior the eyes of their flock. Watch the BBCs Intelligence Squared Debate with Chris Hitchens & Stephen Fry on youtube. Motioning: is the Catholic Church a stress for good interior the international. the top effect is quite telling & i've got confidence that religon may be became on its head if there became an open globe debate on the advantages of religion & its rhetoric interior the twenty first century. x

The Christians you refer to are torn. In most cases, their religion tells them homosexuality is a grave sin. Their religion also tells them that it is wrong to discriminate. They find themselves in a "damned if I do and damned if I don't" situation. I know too many good gay people. I will leave the judging to God. I believe homosexuality is genetic like having blue eyes, being tall or short, fat or thin. So are we responsible for our makeup or is God?

Those Christians who obviously hate gays love to excuse their hate by citing different authors in the Bible who also hated gays--the fact that they can't cite Christ for their hate appears to bother them not.Neither does the fact that they are deliberately disobeying Christs commandments to cease seeing sin in others by refusing to judge & condemn others.Small wonder Christianity is imploding by continually fragmenting into thousands of tribes.

The definition of homophobia is made by man. We as Christians don't live by worldly standards but by the tried and tested principals and comandments of God.
Our God says to us that he loves the Sinner but not the Sin. We also love the Sinner but not the sin. Since being homosexual is contrary to the character and laws of God.
We do love Homosexuals but despise their practices. We don't accept it and will not stand by and let it comprimise the principles of God.
