We are teaching our baby sign language too, but she hasn't caught on yet.
I know sign language from my college days, so I don't have an answer for you.
However, go to the library, get an "American Sign Language Book' and look up

sleep
hurt
sick
or anything specific to your wants.
Also, there may be a deaf service center (I worked at one) in your area, and definately a deaf club and/or interpreters if you don't like the library.
