Yes it is quite legal for you to start working part-time at 14. As some have stated jobs are probably limited in what you are able to do as their are some jobs that require you to be at least 16 (which is the legal age for full time work) and of course when it comes to lotto counters and bars 18 is the legal age. Their is a stigma that if you are 14 you wont know anything however if you can show your prospective employer that you have a mature can do attitude, a willingness to learn and have the initiative to make some tough decisions then perhaps they will give you a go. I do think that at 14 the best place to start would be to enlist your parents help, they would be better able to advise you and be in a better position to either ask the wider family, friends or even their own employers for school holiday work for you or even after-school work for a few hours a week.
