Frequently recurring hard stool/starining resulting in anal fissuer?
I have this problem for the last 2 years. I have been using Macrogol, (Movicol brand name). When ever I try to stop it, I get hard stool and I have to straing to pass the stoll. Resulting in an anal fissuer, which is really very very painfull. I don`t drink, I don`t eat much meat, once a week, I eat a lot vagetables and fruits. But I can`t get rid of hard stool. The interesting part is, when I got to toilet, the first bit of my stool is hard but the rest , one sitting, is soft and not so hard. Once I get a hard stool, that leaves me with pain in rectum and anal fissuer and then I can`t go to toilet for 1-2 days. Another thing is, after I eat something, mostly meals, my tommy bloats up, and when I say bloats up, I means a huge and significant differnce, but after couple of hours it goes back down.
Anyone help me what to do?

Sounds like you have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or Chron's Disease.

Try adding a fiber supplement to your diet and see if this regulates you.

Don't give it over a week before going back for a checkup.

You need to go visit your Dr. It sounds like there is more going on in there than anyone but a qualified person can answer. My husband suffers from fissures also and it isn't so much about what he eats as it is how much. It also can be the meds you are on that can cause you to be constipated. I urge you to see your Dr. because having anal fissures can lead to more serious illness. Depending on the bacteria that is in your stools, it can get into the fissures and cause you to become very sick. This really isn't something you should be avoiding to visit the Dr. about.

I would try Milk Of Magnesia. It's very powerful stuff. Just pour about half a teaspoon in the plastic cup that comes with it and fill the rest with water.
Increase the dosage if necessary. For me, Milk Of Magnesia is excellent for bloating, water retension, and constipation, which can all lead to hard stools.

Sometimes ANAL FISSURES are caused from your ANAL SPHINCTER muscle being too tight.
I work for a general surgeon and we see lots of people with concerns like this. We do a very simple/short procedure called a LATERAL SPHINCTEROTOMY; which is simply a very tiny incision into the sphincter ring (not all the way through) to ease the pain during bowel movements. We've even seen patients who have multiple fissures from this problem, not just one fissure. You usually have instant relief.
The procedure does require you to have general anesthesia in a hospital, out-patient setting. But, it generally takes no more than 10 minutes. See a general surgeon in your area for a consult and see what he/she says.

I have IBS with constipation and am also dealing with a hemorrhoid in addition to some other health issues. I am going to try and see a gastroenterologist soon to deal with the hemorrhoid and see if I have something else going on with my bowel. In the mean time one of my next steps is to find out if I have a problem with my thyroid in particular hypothyroidism because one of the symptoms of hypothyoridism (low functioning thyroid) is constipation.

I would recommend seeing your primary care dr first if your insurance plan requires this before going on to a gastroenterologist.

Please go see a gastro specialist about this. Especially because this has been going on for quite some time. They will help diagnose the problem, and it's better safe than sorry. If any new symptoms arise such as bleeding call your healthcare provider! Hope you get better :)

You could be allergic to Gluten. Try only fruit and veg for a couple of weeks and see how you go. Its definitely worth going to see an allergist.
