The 144,000 mentioned in Revelation is a literal number, like all the other numbers in Revelation it must be taken literally. Eg. 7 Seals, 12 Tribes etc.

The 144,000 sybolise later day(before the coming of Jesus) Disciples that go out and spread the would. When Jesus started his ministry he called out 12 disciples to go forth and proclaim the Gospel.
In the later days the same will be done, but it does not mean that these eliet will be the only surviving humans that will make it to heaven. They are just called out to be later day leaders.

The only way you may be among the 144,000 is if you walk with God the way Enoch did. Pray and Study the Scriptures everyday and live a faithful life.

I see much confusion and dis-information here----yet there are some here who did answer correctly------------after the rapture(what Jesus spoke of in Luke 21:36) there will come a period of time--a literal known time of seven years---known as The tribulation------and during this time there will be a great battle between good and evil--------and there will be a literal number of 12,000 from each of the twelve tribes of Israel for a grand total of 144,000 that will be divinely inspired by God Himself to go out and teach all who will listen that the second coming of the Messiah (Jesus) is about to happen.
Oh look up and Rejoice for Our Redemption is soon to come

The 144,000 is reserved for 12 Tribes of Israel. There will be 12,000 people chosen from each tribe. Read the New Testament, you will know!!! Pray about it and pray with others.

7:4Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

I believe that these are Messianic (Christian) Jews, not Judaism Jews because Jesus is going to save His disciples ( believers.)

7:9After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

I believe that these are Christians Gentiles from all parts of the world.

Therefore, to be one of the 144,000 you have to be a christian Jew. God bless.

How do you know that there were any vacancies, if any, in the 144,000 class if Jesus offered this to first century Christians? How can the organization know the exact number of vacancies today without any records from the first century?
