Follow your Heart and do no harm and thereby abide God.
All else is someone's, or some group's, or some consensus's take on God.
Tradition is familiar. Tradition speaks of the favor in numbers. It also speaks to the Herd instinct.
Is it uncomfortable to be out there alone? Yes.
Is aloneness and your own valid beliefs on God grounds for branding or damnation or expatriation? Absolutely Not!
So don't go branding or damning yourself...
For aren't there potentially enough people out there who would do that for you without you needing the assistance?
Address these things within yourself now than later; or else, if it is hurting you, it will only fester as time goes on.
Be honest and come to know yourself, even at the risk of losing comforts...
Don't worry. If you should lose some comfort at the one, you will find again new comforts at the other, see? That is a Law of Life.

I am not a Muslim girl, but for your question, it is not allowed for Muslims to have any sort of physical or intimate contact to persons from the opposite sex if they are not married or closely related. Given that as it may, you will still see (though very few) Muslim men and women exchanging greetings through a hand shake or even a kiss, especially with foreigners who do not know the local custom. This does not mean that it is ok in Islam to do so but either they are not bothered or they are in a situation where they are compelled to do so.
In Islam the relationship between a man and a woman begins after marriage, not before. So yes in short, kissing some one from the opposite sex, will constitute a sin.

Awww Cute!
First of all get it clear that I have yet to hear of a religion that disallows pecks on cheeks! Frankly, they may say it to scare you but puhleeeeezzz!
Now, you sound as someone at a vulnerable age dear so read carefully. When deciding to be intimate with the opposite sex, even if its just holding hands, consider this;
1. Are you both more than friends ie has he asked you out yet?
2. Have done the verbal romance of saying I Love yous, chatted on the phone endlessly et al...
3. Feel absolutely deeply about it and want him to be the first guy you get close to and not just getting on the bandwagon, 'I Kissed a Guy' syndrome of being able to flaunt & brag about it amongst your friends.
4. A sweet peck on the cheek can lead the guy to thinking way ahead as in making out and being touchy, et al.. so are you ready for that, in the right age? (As in over 17)
Think hard sweetie and be true to yourself! Friends are around for support, but decisions and their consequences are solely your babies... so best of luck and hope it helps!

In Islam, it is forbidden for a man & woman who have no relationship (marriage or family) to do such act. In your case, until you're married.
If you do, then you'll have to bear the consequences. In Malay tradition there are other ways to express your intimate feelings. You may kiss their hands or forehead as a show of affection & respect.

My dear Emily:
The question is are you a Muslim? Perhaps it is better to admire from afar.

If you able to kiss and he is willing to let you kiss than go and kiss. Do not an opportunity slip from you.
