My oldest son I started at 1 month and my second son I started at 1 week. Neither had any problems and started sleeping through the night without waking up. I would give them some in the morning and then at the 10 oclock feeding. At 2 months I started veggies and at 3 months the fruits and 4 months the pure gerber meats. I never liked the baby food dinners since they are more fillers than they are veggies and meats. Both my boys were off formula at 4 months and off the bottles at 9 mnths. By the time they were 5 and 6 months I would grind up my own veggies and fruits for them but stuck with the pure meats until they were around 8 or 9 months. All this wait till a baby is 6 months to feed them any food is crazy unless the baby has trouble eating I personally cant see only giving a baby formula until 6 months. They need substance in their tummies if they are going to grow healthy and strong. Both my boys are over 6 feet tall and never were sick a day in their lives .I am only 5'4" and their dad is only 5' 8" so I must of done something right. My youngest stood up for the first time when he was 5 and 1/2 months old believe it or not. He climbed by himself up the side of the sofa and was standing there hanging on. He sat up by himself at 4 months. Babies now days that only are getting formula if you notice normally cant sit up until after 6 months. To each his or her own though . If you do decide to start cereal make sure it is the rice cereal since it is the easiest to digest. Dont put it in the bottle either. If my youngest could eat off a spoon at one week of age any baby can eat off a spoon , well maybe not at one week but by 1 month they all can , maybe alittle messy but thats the fun of it. They will end up with cereal in their hair and yours and will rub their mouth and then their eyes so they will end up with cereal all over the place. You will also find after awhile that every bite that you give your baby you will open your mouth at the same time. It becomes a habit. Use one of those tiny baby spoons too. The skinny ones that fit nicely in their mouths. Those round ones just dont work very good since babies dont open wide .

I started my son on rice cereal when he was about 4 months. I was told to start with only rice cereal mixed with formula because he takes Isomil for his intolerance, but he also had reflux so we have to be careful of what we feed him. Try the rice cereal with formula/breastmilk first and if she likes that then moveo n to something different. If she doesn't like it then give it a couple days and try something new.

I started feeding cereal at around 5 mths. She had worked up to eating 7-8oz each bottle, so she started getting cereal with a spoon for breakfest everyday. I first gave her Gerber rice cereal & now Gerber Oatmeal. You can mix it with formula or breastmilk, & I usually mix a little apple or pear juice with it for the taste.
