gatekeeper's got the easiest way, though it takes like 20 fuckin' minutes of constant rolling.

Yes! My mother is a kindergarten teacher and she has the best ice cream recipe that you make in zip loc baggies. We had so much fun making this around the campfire this summer, then again at one of the kids' birthday!
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Sugar
1/2 cup Milk or half & half
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla
6 tablespoons Rock salt
1 pint-size Ziploc plastic bag
1 gallon-size Ziploc plastic bag
Ice cubes
Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
Place the small bag inside the large one and seal again carefully.
Shake until mixture is ice cream, about 5 minutes.
Wipe off top of small bag, then open carefully and enjoy!
Tips:
I always have sprinkles and nuts to top it off, and sometimes fruit.
To make a larger amount I would try doubling the recipe. Anything larger might be too big for kids to pick-up, because the ice itself is quite heavy.
For a low-fat version:
1/4 tsp butternut flavored imitation vanilla
1 tbs. sugar
1/2 cup 1% milk
Ziploc sandwich bags

When I was a kid, we made ice cream in cans. There was a small one inside a larger one. The middle section was filled with rock salt and ice. The little can held the ice cream mix. Then we shook and rolled the can until it turned to ice cream.

My family has a recipe that does not require any mixing of air into the mix, instead of cream or half and half, we use cool whip.
1 large tub of cool whip
1 can sweeten condensed milk
zest of 1 lemon
gently mix together and place in freezer
you could substitute any fruit or extract for flavor just be sure the fruit is almost to the point of freezing or the extract is cold otherwise you start to make the cool whip too soupy.

Yes, it requires you to constantly whip air into it as it's freezing quite often (eg something like every 20 mins for 8 hours) Good luck...
