you didn't say what you wanted prices for. the cost of living here is low and hotel and food is a good bargain here. as for the beaches I would say Koh Samui, Phuket, Hun Hin, Pattaya and a few others, check the web site below for the places and hotel cost.

The beaches of Thailand are the main reason many people come. While they all pretty much have white sand, calm seas and warm water, there are also lots of variations to choose from. Which one is the best? Well, it's all really a matter of taste. As beaches go, the north end of Chaweng Beach on Samui is one of our all time favorites. However, Samui is probably one of the most expensive destinations in Thailand, with very little to see and do away from the beach.
Phuket is one of Thailand's most developed beach resorts. That means there's a wide range of accommodations in all price categories, as well as a few more distractions once you leave the beach. But, that high level of development is because there are a lot of tourists to serve. Phuket is not the place to "get away from it all."
In the end, our personal favorite is the little known provincial town of Songkhla in the deep south. The beach is rather "wild", with the occasional rock outcrop, but it's natural wind-swept beauty is precisely why it appeals. Few tourists frequent this part of Thailand, yet there are many interesting sights around town as well as further afield.
Thailand Beach Destinations
Phuket / Krabi / Phi Phi
Phuket is Thailand's largest island and an international resort destination. The small Phi Phi islands are a short distance to the south, while Krabi is the mainland province off which Phuket lies.
Samui
The island off the east coast of peninsular Thailand, with a rather laid-back attitude, but a rather high price.
Hua Hin & Cha-Am
"Royal" retreats about two to three hours south-west of Bangkok
Pattaya / East Coast
Pattaya lies less than two hours from Bangkok, and popular for quick weekends away from the city.
Samet & Chang Islands
Smaller islands east of Pattaya popular with backpackers.

Most Beaches are good in themselves, but Thai people, usually teenagers, are a careless lot. They leave the Beaches strewn with the plastic bags and bottles from their feasts. It's disgusting.
Now and again the Councils get school kids to go and clear the sand, but next day it's just as bad......
The only really clean beaches are those belonging to Hotels.
As for prices. Well even though they have gone up a lot since I first came here 3yrs ago, they are still low by European standards.
If you come try to get onto an Arab airline like Etihad. They are very good and the cheapest. They have to stop for an hour on route but it is a welcome distraction and you can stretch your legs.
Best time to come is Nov through to Feb. It's not too hot, as it's the Winter here.
I live near and like Pattaya. But it is not everyones cup of Tea.

I just got back from Kao Lak - about 100 kms. north of Phuket. You can hire a taxi from the Phuket airport for just a little over 1000 baht. This area was the hardest hit by the tsunami - in terms of lives lost. While the main part of Kao Lak ("Post Mountain") is being reconstructed, and tourists are starting to move back in, I found miles and miles of deserted beaches outside of town to the north. Problem is, now that Thailand is entering its two hottest months of April and May, it was almost unbearable without ac. So, I was forced back into town. But I got a good deal on a place and the people there were great.

I am staying in Thailand in a non tourist area and have a "VIP" apartment in a block with en suite bathroom elevator, air con, fridge, and secure parking with security for 6000 baht per month I can eat locally in a buffet style restaurant for 99 baht per person and live music too. I recently went to An Nong beach resort near Krabi and amazed how " expensive" it was. Inferior accommodation was 1200 baht per night and restaurants were dear. The local sea water was polluted as the settled sewage enters the sea at monkey bridge but the islands around were wonderful and well worth the long tail boat ride. I am sure you will have a great holiday.

Kelsey has given you the beaches that you can visit in Thailand. Majority of them are fine. And being hot now, the beaches are bound to be crowded.
Now will be a matter of your preference. Less crowd will be out of Phuket, especially Patong Beach, and Koh Samui on weekends. Then you can find some peace and solace to enjoy the beautiful beach and scenery.

If you don't want the expense of Phi Phi got to Koh Lanta instead. It's bigger but just as lovely and the hotel are much cheaper and less crowded. Loads of lovely restaurants along the beaches.
Also loved Lonely Beach on Koh Chang. Everywhere else is really touristy and tacky on Koh Chang but Lonely Beach is stunning and cheap.

wadup ma homie.....well i hav no idea bout da prices, cus it depends on ur accomodation.
so ill just list the beaches yeah?
Cha-am and Hua Hin : relatively near each other. Cha-am is way less crowded and the nightlife in Hua Hin is awesome....oh and theres this really good Italian Gelato place and italian food in hua hin :p
Krabi and Phuket and Trang: this is if you're really looking for real azure beach and white sand. Check out the coral reefs take a cruise...its realy nice here but Phuket tends to be real crowded.
Pattaya: the beaches are okay, but not as nice as Phuekt Krabi and Trang cus its not realy near the andaman sea.
if your a single guy and looking for some fun...well i guess pattaya's the one for you.... its also got a yacht sailing club, ripley's believe it or not.....paintball....go-kart.
so all in all best beaches?
go all hte way down south (but avid the malaysian border unless the next time your family sees u you're in a coffin) near the andaman and the ocean is blue, hte beach nice, and the sun good for tanning, as you westerners are so crazy about taning.
have fun.
