If you just happened to get an e-mail congratulating you on winning a UK lottery and you didn't know you had entered one, well, welcome to one of the biggest scams out there. You will be asked for money next on some pretext. Smile and forget it.

Unless you were in the UK and bought a ticket on the lottery, you don't have winnings. It's a very common scam - I "win" most weeks, or at least get an email telling me that I did.

Delete the email.

Take your ticket to the shop where you purchased it and pick up a claim form. That's the ONLY way to claim a win on the UK Lottery.
