Hi Michael,
i am a Christian and in fact i'm a youth/college pastor at a small Chinese church. There are some buddhists in my family and my brother was an East Asian Philosophy major.
There are times when my beliefs come in conflict with Chinese tradition (ie: one time i attended a funeral for one of my relatives...) i paid my respects but refused to bow to idols, etc. i spent that time quietly praying for the family of the deceased (it was a distant cousin that i didn't know well- but i really did my best to minister to the family)...
i can also remember pictures of dead ancestors with fruit bowls and incense around them- and i also refused to bow to my ancestors.
Anyhow hope that helps. Feel free to email if you want to ask more specific questions- since your question is very open ended.
Kindly,
Nickster

I'm a Chinese and a true Buddhist.
There are different view from varies people about Buddhism, some say Buddhism is a religion, some think that it a Philosophy. For me, whether is a religion or philosophy, it doesn't bother me much, after all these are just words merely label by the mind.
What my main concern is, while go on this path, it would help me to develop myself spiritually, generating a good heart, have compassion to help others who are less fortune than me, developing loving kindness to wish to all beings to be happy , that will be my greatest joys in my life.

The Chinese people had taken on a new world view, different from their counterparts of a decade earlier. Internet cafes and international publications, combined with TV, have brought the world to the Chinese. They are interesting people and modern times have changed them a lot as we are.
