K, it's like this every night and I've tried everything. I have taken hot showers, baths, listened to soothing music, exercised, read books and everything. And it's always either too quiet or too loud but I think it might just be not dark enough but I have my room as dark as possible, the only light is the glow from my alarm clock, little clocks on various electronics, under my door, and peeking through my window. But i've tried EVERYTHING. What can I do?

If the light is part of the problem (lights tend to bother me, even small ones, like clocks, especially if the rest of the room is dark), you could try getting a sleep mask that would cover your eyes. Also, have you tried teas? I used to have problems with insomnia before I started drinking Yogi brand Kava Stress Relief tea (it has cinnamon and stuff in it, so it's sweet and doesn't taste much like regular green or white teas if you don't like those). They also have a Bedtime Tea that I haven't tried, but it's probably similar but more concentrated on sleep.

I agree with the other answerer about the Melatonin. It comes in 1mg and 3mg and you can get it over the counter at the pharmacy. My oldest child takes because her doctor recommends it. It helps you create a regular sleep pattern. She uses it in conjunction of her anxiety medicine. You may have a medical condition you are not aware of. Anxiety could be one. My child was diagnosed with this problem after she just couldn't sleep well for about a week, it took almost a month to get it under control.
I would suggest using the Melatonin first. Work your way from 1mg to 3mg if needed. If this does not work I would see your regular doctor. You could also look up sleep therapy in the yellow pages. These doctors will run tests to see why you can't sleep and what you need to do to get a full nights rest. I work with a guy that went through these test and it will help a lot.

I dont know how much help im going to be seeing as i DONT sleep at night..im lucky if i get 4 hours asleep.. except lately :) but if i were you.. try have like a bubble bath, then go to bed.. maybe with soft music in the background, open a window just to bring in alittle bit of a breez, make sure that your body temperature is good, not to warm though.. sleep in something that YOU find comfterable.. cuddle up in your blankets and close your eyes...and just try to free your mind.. dont think about what your going to do the next day, or work or anything just relax.. it helps me sometimes so i hope that it helps you also.. sweet dreams if it works and good luck.. if not... im sorry for waisting your time..

try watching the tele-finding out to purchase channels for somewhat, they're exceedingly boring. or you are able to desire to purchase a rest CD and play it quietly on your room once you bypass to mattress, or study a e book in low lighting fixtures--it makes your eyes drained rather at as quickly as. each and every each and every now and then a small glass of alcohol will help you too, something clean and not fizzy like Jim Beam or a Scotch. in elementary terms a small volume although!!

Try doing something you enjoy around the home like reading, some sort of project, crafts, cleaning or even venture into your garage. Sleep tight.

melatonin! it's cheap and non addictive. they come in 3mg tabs and are quite affective. you can get it at just about any pharmacy. Take one about an hour before you want to go to sleep and you'll start feeling it about 20 minutes before your designated "bedtime". Don't drink alcohol with these or drive after you've taken them.

Try to take few deep breathes and close your eyes. Do not open them. Keep at it and hope you can fall to sleep. Good luck.zzzzzzzz
