I would assume it was for religious reasons if I saw it, because that is generally what most people use it for. Like if I saw a cross on somebody I would assume it was for religious reasons as well. One of the beautiful things I know the sacred heart stands for is passion and if you want to say you got it to represent your passion then I would get it... Get whatever you want on your tattoo, but some people will assume it's religious, I bet. You will probably hear" oh I am a Catholic, too!" from time to time, and if you want to explain that you just liked the symbol some a$$ho!&S out there that might get offended, but if you love your tattoo you will be willing to pay the price of occasional annoyances. I love the sacred heart and I think it will be a beautiful tattoo , whatever your reason.

Some may mistake it for the Sacred Heart (of which there are actually a few versions) but most people who get a religiously-themed heart have thorns encircling it, or words along with it. It also usually looks a bit more like an anatomical heart than your average Valentine's Day one. You can view religiously themed tattoos here:

I also like the Sacred Heart Image. I have 1 on my chest, and one in progress on my Upper arm. I am not exactly the most religious person out there. Just get it, and if somebody asks about it, tell them why you have it. "Because you love it."

i have several ancient egyptian tattoos, would you assume i was an ancient egyptian?? Most peoples tattoos are symbolic to them, if i saw you, i would be intrigued as to why you chose it, but thats because hearing peoples stories for choice is interesting, i know what the sacred heart traditionally symbolises, but would not assume you had it for those reasons. its not common for any religious symbol to be done for religious reasons, but associated to the wearer for reasons personal to them, Have your tattoo, and enjoy it!!

Well... it depends on how you look at it. if you are not doing it for religous reasons then don't worry about what others think. It might raise a couple eyebrows of churchpillars raised but you like it so thats all that matters

it incredibly is an iconic cartoonish image utilized by ability of Catholic dogma...a image of a "shining coronary heart now and returned with scarlet festoons, thorned vines and a crown" on genuine of it. Supposedly it became given to a nun in a ingenious and prescient or dream. while Christ became on earth He became a flesh and blood human only like something people. What perfected Him became the Holy Spirit. As he's God and humbled Himself to be one people for the purpose of our Salvation speaks volumes of ways lots He loves us...yet love has no longer something to do with the coronary heart..nevertheless that's the coronary heart that reacts to the thoughts inspired while our brains launch specific chemical components. to love somebody the way we are enjoyed by ability of God has to do with an energetic determination based on the character of God. he's love and each and each of the styles of love that there are in each and each of the a number of stages that that is huge-unfold. So it could no longer by ability of symbolically represented by ability of a few synthetic artists renditions of a religous thought dreampt up by ability of a few committed believer and then accompanied by ability of the church. the coronary heart is a flesh and blood organ that serves a particular purpose that does no longer be needed by ability of Christ remote from this earth. he's God and thereby Spirit. we are mortal and prefer a coronary heart...He would not. it incredibly is thru Him, by ability of Him and for Him that we live, pass and have our being. The term isn't point out interior the Bible yet is almost latinized like maximum of the ritual and dogma of the RCC. that is an artists thought only like the facial good factors of Jesus. The caucasion blue-eyed, easy brown haired "hippy" Jesus wearing toga gowns? no longer attainable or perhaps achieveable. we don't comprehend what Christ regarded like. For all all of us comprehend...each Catholic stained glass window, crucifix, statue, icon or portray with that depiction of Jesus in it ought to certainly be inspired by ability of the devil himself and that must be Lucifer. possibly hence God commanded that we make no graven photos or worship idols? additionally absent is the commandment to have depictions of Jesus everywhere and to prefer to statues. Did every physique think of of this? do no longer do it persons. That ain't God. Oh yeah..and that bypass your donning around your neck...it became a pagan image long earlier Christians accompanied it. i'm juss sayin'. Love in Christ, ~J~
