If you're a tourist, a messenger, a political envoy, even from an enemy country, you don't pay Jezyah at all...
If your visit is temporary you don't pay Jezyah at all.
If you'll stay there for a year+, you pay 2% of the money you have saved and not in need of them during this year. If you saved this money for a purpose or in need of them, you are excluded till you save another sum. There's no Tax in The Islamic system.. Muslims pay Zakah (2.5%) and Non Muslims pay Jezyah (2%).

Dude you are totally confused about Islam....its not a tax that the government keeps dude,,,its goes to the poor. All Muslims pay it...Muslims pay Zakah (2.5%) and Non Muslims pay Jezyah (2%), You are not very educated are you? Its not for being a "non'believer"...if you are living and earning in a Muslim country you pay taxes that go to the poor as stated above,...the US takes much more taxes than that...Muslim or not....dude...Was your problem that they charge so less for Muslims or even "lesser" for Non muslims? ....

That's Jaziyah!
Hmmm, now that you mention it, it does seem like rank discrimination!?
Oh, according to Lawrence the non-Muslims pay less? Hmmmm, that seems OK, then.
Cheers!
