i have a heart with a dove on either side each holding an end of a ribbon that raps around the heart and has both my girls names on it....I really wanted cherubs though.....perhaps a fairy holding a single iris ...with unusual colors..and a glow to show it is no ordinary iris...i also have one on my chest just over my heart of baby footprints to represent the impact they have had on my life because no matter where life takes them they will always be in my heart....it's really all about what you want it to mean...and unfortunately without more details it's hard to guess exactly what you mean...hope i at least gave you something to work with....a tattoo is something you have to be completely satisfied with....good luck!!

How about trying something really different? Think of your daughter at say age 35 or 45. Think of what she would have accomplished. Has she been a waitress? An engineer? A zoologist? A barber? A football player? A movie actress? A dog groomer? A pianist? What? Imagine a life for this daughter. Use your wildest imagination. Maybe she would be a lion tamer, or wrestle alligators, or be a moon crawler or a pole dancer. Now there is something you could tattoo! Put a baby poledancer on your shoulder and call it "my baby hero" or put a baby hippopotamus dentist on your shoulder and call it "hippo dentababy". You know what I mean . . .
Be wild! Be creative! Be outrageous! The sky is the limit! Allow your imagination no bounds. Put your imagination on your shoulder and explain to baby daughter as she grows up, "This is my goal for you in your life, babykins." This will give her a reason to live--just for you!
You could go the entirely symbolic route as well, and just put her photo, and insert it between butterfly wings, or put her face on a bummble bee, or her body on a dog's face, or whatever. Or even put her face in a cloud or on the windshield of your car. It would all have to fit on your shoulder, but you are the creative type and you will surely figure it all out.
You will have such a precious reminder of your baby daughter, and she will ask questions about your tattoo of her all her life. And you will be able to control her well all through her life, just with your precious tattoo. Good luck!

I know you said that you don't like iris flowers for tattoos, but the only thing that popped into my mind is a fairy hugging an iris bloom! The idea looks pretty in my head...

A good place to start is to think about what she means to you and what having her means to you. I have a "tribute" tattoo to my lil girl...and didn't really know what I wanted until I sat and thought about what she meant to me personally and how I see her and having her. It doesn't necessarily have to be a picture of an iris or whatsoever. The tattoo is for YOU...and is your own personal celebration of having her in your life. What symbolizes that to you? Hope that helps somewhat? Best of luck.

hey.....it is so cool that you want a tattoo symbolising your daughter,
my ex-sister in law has a 2 year old but when she was lil she got a butterfly that is about to land with its wings back on her shoulder.....
it sounds really strange but it looks cool
(like the type of stuff you like)
any way hope i could help a lil
ps also if you wait a lil while you could see what types of stuff she likes eg faries so then you have something that actually simbolises her :)

if you like fantasy things you could get an amy brown fairy in representation of her. or even a baby fairy. you could always go to a custom tattoo artist and have them create something for you.

This is just my opinion, so take it however you like.
I do not think you should get a tatoo. They look very unflattering on women.
Rather, why not put the money into a college fund for your sweet new baby girl?
Or, if you like art, and it sounds like you do, commission a local painter to make a painting of fairies floating around a bunch of shimmering irisis in a beautiful, fantasy-land? Your baby could look at it as she drifts off sleep, and see it first thing when her eyes open each day.
Blessings to you and your child.

One idea i saw on a guy, was his childrens foot prints up the back of his leg. Its not fantasy, but you could always have it custom done, with some background. Or your baby's first hand prints...

How about a cherub angel with her name under it. Or tinkerbell. Lavender dragon fly? Prayer hands.
