Homophobia is the unreasoning fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.[1] It can also mean hatred, hostility, or disapproval of homosexual people, sexual behavior, or cultures, and is generally used to insinuate bigotry.[2] The term homophobic means "prejudiced against homosexual people,"[3] and a person who is homophobic is a homophobe.

There isn't one. There are people with hate, arrogance, and ignorance in this world and many of them are religious and use their religion as a justification for their hate, arrogance, and ignorance. You can not change their minds because once someone believes that they are right because of their religious interpretations, they rarely ever see any different. You either accept them as they are or you don't.Personally, I don't.But then I think religion is a dogma based delusion for self righteousness and justifications of everything in life.Religion is a crutch and institutionalized religion is the strongest crutch that rarely changes it's methods.

Phobia - persistent fear of certain situations, objects, activities, or persons.
Why would anyone be afraid of homosexuals? Do you give people a reason to be afraid?
If not then why use this phrase homophobia?
Christians, and I am a Christian, are not afraid of homosexual people, they are not afraid of homosexuality nor do they hate homosexuals, personally I have quite a few friends both male and female that are homosexual, and I certainly don't hate them, though they know that I believe their choice of lifestyle is wrong.
The question then has to be asked why do we believe so?
Because as Christians we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, as such we believe what it says to be true and accurate, therefore when The Bible says that the act of homosexuality is wrong then it is wrong.
Now if you go down the line of forcing your belief upon me or anyone else for that matter, i.e. telling me that I am wrong and that I should not say these things, then what is the difference between you and the people you define as homophobic, could you then be labelled as 'Christophobic'.
So you are in danger of becoming an insitutional 'Christophobic', I don't particulary agree with this but I am using your logic here.
I have no problem with the fact that you may disagree with me on many things, and as shown will voice your opinion regarding this, that of course is your right.
By the same token I also have a right to voice my opinion and disagree with you, is that not so?
Though, and I am actually in danger of agreeing with you here, the manner in which the different opinions are expressed can certainly leave a lot to be desired, from anyone of course but especially from Christians.

nicely you are able to obviously see the hypocracy of what they say or you doesn't have printed. That, is fairly major, as those who fairly believe what those people believe have already got an 'illogical' answer to any rebuff you've gotten to their homophobia. they are deluded so there is no longer something you are able to say or attempt this will magically lead them to see the mild. the great you are able to wish for is the drip effect. it extremely is to project everytime genuine homophobia includes the top-rated side. Do it in a peaceful, rational and logical way. someplace on some aspect this may possibly 'connect' and someone ought to start up seeing there's a valid aspect or set of things you attempt to make. strong success with this!

To previous poster: Nowhere in the question was Christianity mentioned. (Edit: Until the addition, but then it was only a 'mainly,' not an 'only.')
To questioner: The best way to deal with it is simply to ignore it. You aren't going to change a closed mind. If there are legal avenues that need to be pursued, pursue them. Discriminating against sexual orientation is legally actionable in many avenues. If they are doing you genuine harm, you are very likely within your rights to seek reparation. If they are not harming you in a legal sense, they are only harming themselves by their ignorance.

I don't think that is the most accurate description of a morality extant for thousands of years. Its not a new thing just made up recently by manmade institutions. It reaches back to Mosaic Law days.

Is it homophobic to disagree with the homosexual lifestyle? IF so then homosexuals are heterophobic.

Why is it, when, a christian believes that homosexual acts are wrong, they are automatically afraid of them. That is what a phobia is. I am not afraid of gay people. I think their acts are wrong and sinful.
I know PLENTY of non-christians who also believe this way. Its not just christians. So why christians always get the grunt work out of you?
