A better question is why do you celebrate a holiday that is not directly connected or promoted by Christ, but ignore the one observance he did say to keep in Memorial, Nasin 14?

Now, I would bet that you have to look that up on the Internet because you are not sure what it is or what day it falls on, because your church felt you didn't need that knowledge.

So, which is more important to you, a man made holiday or an observance Christ said to keep?

If you believe keeping a man made holiday is more important, than stay with Christendom.

They dont really celebrate any holidays except passover which is their communion. They think it is evil and comes from pagan infulences not God. But if people want to celebrate Jesus coming into the world there is nothing wrong with that because we are not giving heed to another God or practicing anything pagan. Colossians 2:16 says not to judge others festivals. Im American, and is it wrong to get the family together on Thanksgiving to thank the Lord for what we have been given remembering the first pilgrims who came to this country to escape the oppression of religion in their country? Most of our forefathers were not ashamed to be Christian and the foundations built of this nation on Christian values. THe JWs do nothing for holidays and are considered to be a cult, look them up. They use a corrupt bible called NWT whose translators are unknown and they use watchtower material for all their studies to blind them to the truth.

I have been friends with an elderly Jehovah's witness lady for nearly 15 years and even (suffered) studies with her!
They do not believe that Dec 25 is the actual birthdate of christ, due to the seasons...You can look into that . Even the christians agree. But they do not celebrate birthdays either, because they say that makes too much self importance, and they can show love all year round, not just on one day of the year.
PLEASE REALISE I DO NOT AGREE! Jehovas witness is more a cult than a religion in my mind, and they use brainwashing like sugar in their tea!And leaving can be VERY hard! Talk your GF out of it! As they will turn her against you, because they say they, do not associate with worldly people(anyone not a JW)
Blessed Be)o(

Very simple, Christmas is a bastardized version of a Pagan celebration called Yule.

For many centuries christians tried unsucessfuly to stem the celebration of yule. Since they where not able to halt its practice, they perverted some of it and called it their own.

They are accurate in the holidays they DO practice being christian based, so not doing christmas makes complete sense.

In the JW, Jesus is not the Messiah or Christ. He was a created being who was originally Michael the Archangel who later changed into the man/prophet Jesus.

JWs are not Christians.

Jesus Christ is the head of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jesus Christ had a prehuman existence in Heaven with his father God Almighty before he willingly came to earth to be born and live as a man and die for our sins.

Satan tempted Eve and later Adam into disobedience. They died before they were 1000 years old. But the first prophecy was uttered by God in the garden of eden....God said satan would bruise Jesus in the heel ( he would recover) and Jesus would crush satan in the head (he would not recover).

Not everyone is called by God. The scriptures tell us that his sheep hear his voice. If you haven't heard his voice and are not serving him then you must be serving his enemy, satan.

Each of you taunters must be careful not to call down evil on Jehovah or his witnesses. He does protect his people.

There are 3 times we attend meetings..Usually Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. These meetings are open to the public and you will feel comfortable and be greeted warmly. The children meet with their parents. There are no secret indoctrinations. Everything is honest and open to all.

We use God's word the bible throughout every meeting. We use the bible to teach others of God's will. And Jehovah's Witnesses are very nice neighbors and citizens.

JW's are law abiding, helpful, and courteous.

Dear Benjamin,

Although JW's claim to believe in Jesus, they don't believe in the Jesus of the Bible. JW's will say they are Christians but many of their fundamental beliefs do not agree with mainline Christianity.

JW's are encouraged to follow the direction of the Watchtower and they are zealous in evangelizing because they believe that only 144,000 will go to heaven. They discourage any disagreement with the WatchTower (and this is one of the traits of a cult).

i would advise you to definitely do more research and also to keep you and your girlfriend safe. i'm just sharing a bit of what i know and encourage you to make sound and safe decisions.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nick Lee

I'm not a JW but I don't celebrate Christmas either..... the pagan origins etc....

Are you sure you want to let her become a JW..... is it the real religion that is fully based upon God's word (BIBLE) alone..... make sure she makes the right choice because terrible things happen when you want to leave (excommunicated etc.)

God Bless

There is nothing wrong with celebrating christmas! jesus had a birthday didn't he?
We might not know exactly what day it was
he was born "but he was born". Even the angels told us to rejoice in book of john for
a savior has been born "Chirst the lord". Christmas is our way of rejoicing "OK".
By the way the JW is a cult research it.
