Different bible versions... May be interesting for non-believers also. Take a look?

I will start by saying that I believe EVERY word of God. I believe it to be true and undefiled (KJV obviously). I really did a lot of research on this in the past and I feel absolutly certain that the KJV is the ONLY true, uncorrupted bible.

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God... Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Mt 4:4; 24:35) I believe this to be a good starting point. This verse is saying that EVERY WORD of God is important. I will now show you an excert out of the back of the NIV that my husband recieved at a church when he was in high school.

......To achieve clarity the translators sometimes supplied words not in the original texts but required by the context. Also for the sake of clarity or style, nouns including some proper nouns, are sometimes substituted for pro-nouns and visa-versa. And though hebrew writters often shifted back and forth between first, second and third personal pronouns without change of antecedent, this translation often makes them uniform, in accordance with english style and without the use of footnotes..........Like all translations of the bible, made as they are by imperfect man, this one undoubltedly falls short of its goals........ The committee on bible translation.

With that said, Revelations 22:18-19 " For I tesify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

To me, reading a bible with that kind of disclosure in the back, is kinda scary. And they admitted to changing things so that we can "understand it". Well my bible is understandable, and I find no such a thing.

This is a letter written by someone named Frank Logsdon who found translators for the New American Standard. NASB.

I must under God renounce every attachment to the NEW AMERICAN STANDARD... I am afraid I'm in trouble with the Lord.. We laid the groundword ; I wrote the format; I helped interview some of the translators; I sat with the translator; I wrote the preface...
I'm in trouble; I can't refute these arguments; it's wrong, it's terribly wrong; it's frighteningly wrong; and what am I going to do about it?... I can no longer ignore these critisims I am hearing and I can't refute them...
When questions began to reach me at first I was quite offended. However, in attempting to answer, I began to sense that something was not right about the NASV. Upon investigation, I wrote a dear friend, Mr.Lockman, explaining that I was forced to renounce all attachment to the NASV... The product is grievous to my heart and helps to complicate matters in these already troublous times... The deletions are absolutely frightening... there are so many... Are we so naive that we do not suspect Satanic deception in all of this?...
I don't want anything to do with it...
The finest leaders that we have today... haven't going into it (the new version's use of a corrupted Greek text), just as I had'nt gont into it... That's how easily one can be deceived... I'm going to talk to him (Dr. George Sweeting, then president of Moody Bible INstitue) about these things...
You can say that the AUTHORIZED VERSION (KJV) is absolutely correct. How correct? 100% correct...

I really like when people who used to be one way, have changed and stand a different way. You can really see how God has worked on them , and also it is more powerful when you know someone from the inside who knows alot about something, then changes. (ie. gays who are no longer gay :) I love that. People who read from something other then KJV and found it to be wrong.) When people who actually know whats going on and support something so much that they are a part of making it, then renounce it, that is powerful and has to say something. :)

The God and the bible are truly amazing. God has done so many amazing things through his word, and unfortunatly many people dont see that. If you have a KJV, you should read Psalms 12:6-7. They say:

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever."

Now I live by EVERY word of God. These are in there for a reason :) Lets just look at these for a minute , this is where there is alot of information about the KJV, and how and where it happened. Well, the KJV is the seventh major english translation of the bible.Seven is God's number of perfection, and completion (as found in genesis) I find it more then coinicidence that this verse is in the bible, and the KJV lines up. The words of the Lord are pure, and as you saw above, they changed some things :) Verse 7 states "thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever." The KJV has been the bible that people have used for a few thousand years. Now we have these "smart guys" telling us it's wrong. Why would God call a MAN to preach, and not give him the word of God. My grandpa reads out of the NASB, and he says that the KJV is a "good version", well that is fine and dandy, but if my bible says one thing and yours says another, one is wrong. The bible says "preach the word" more then once, wouldnt God give us the word?

The KJV (which I should refer to as the KJB, Since is it not a "version" it is the BIBLE) had no rivalrys for 274 years. You could either chose the KJB or the DOUAY-RHEIMS (the roman-catholic bible, which you would use if you were catholic, obviously) The KJB was the English Bible. Wescott and Hort's Revised Version, published in England in 1885, proved to be no competition for the KJB. The American Standard Version, was just a revised eddition of that one, and released in 1901, again not a real threat. The in 1952, the revised standard edition, published by the National Council of Churches of Christ, opened the floodgates for the more then two hundred English translations now available. We now have bibles that are "gender inclusive", and even some (living) that have SWEARING in them. That is sad. And by the way, when people say "I have seen the original manuscripts" They havent, they no longer exsist. They may have seen some very old ones, but not the originals, but the KJB translators did :)

In the beginning of many of these new "versions" they say the same thing that I showed you up there. Well it's very "close". And they have committees and it will say, "We voted and at least 2/3's agreed, on every translation. The KJB had a committee of 54 men, and it was 54 men who voted and agreed they had man a exact translation into english. The bibles now are saying they are not exact but thanks to God he has made them "close". I dont want a "close" version, I want the real thing. Like God promised :)

Every jot and every tittle shall come to pass. Not one comma and not one punctuation mark shall pass away. Matthew 5:18, "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." Matthew 24:35, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." I checked those words, "pass away," a little bit; a synonym for that phrase would be, "My word will always be alive." There never will be a day when somebody says, "Beloved, we are gathered here in the presence of 'Gawd' and these witnesses to remember the word of 'Gawd' that died." We never will! It will always be there. It always will.

Which brings me to my next point. I dont know what kind of bible you read out of but I have many verses for many bibles that are clearly not the same as the KJB. Only one can be right. Right? I will give a few differences, and then if you want more I can send you ALOT, but I will send you the biggest ones that really get me going :)

Daniel 3:25 says "He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."

This is after the 3 hebrew children have been thrown in the firey furnace. All other versions read, "the fourth is like" either a son of the gods, a divine being, or an angel. I have looked this one up in many bibles, and obviously, a son and THE SON are not the same. This is Jesus in the other testament.

I hope you have a KJB available, I need to just list alot, not actually commentate on all of them , which would take me, well a long long long time :)

All of these in the KJB show that something is Holy, or holy, and in the NIV and NASB it is left out. Every word of God is important, remember? Why is this not there?

KJB says " How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning... Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell."
NIV says " How you have fallen from heaven o morning star, son of the dawn... but you are brought down to the grave."
NASB says " How you have falllen from heaven O star of the morning, son of the dawn.. you will be thrust down to Sheol."

Revelation 22:16 "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."

Jesus is the morning star. Other versions have made satan the morning star. Do you not suspect satan in all of this? After all, he is the prince of this world.

The NASB and NIV omit verses also, just leaving foot notes saying, some versions have... These would take me a long time to find, I believe one is in matthew.

Is Jesus THE SON or a Son? Dont let people take away Christs diety.

Obviously to see the difference you will need to find these in a KJV and your bible, because you wont see them by just reading what yours say. I pray you will read into it, and see that this is what God wanted (KJB) and what he meant when He said He would preserve Gods word.

Just a last thought. The KJB was the last major english translation of the scriptures to be based soley on the textus receptus, the received text, the traditional, time honored, faithful pure text of the word of God. There has not been one popular English translation of the bible produced after the KJB that came from the true bible text. Every modern english bible since 1885 comes from the perverted, corrupted text fabricated by Westcott and Hort or at least borrows heavily from it. You need to understand this truth. Any bible produced since 1885 is not a bible at all, but a huge departure from the word of God. Do not settle for the devils fake!!

The KJB, authorized verion of 1611, is the seventh major english translation of the bible "purified seven times" in the english language. Seven is the number is Gods completion and perfection. When the seveth full translation was completed, Gods word was perfected. In verse seven of psalms 12 we find Gods promise of preservation. "Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever."

I pray you look into this, and find it insightful. This is something that I have talked to my family members about that read out of corrupted versions. When two things say differently, only one can be right. If you must stand against everyone else, stand. :)

I aso use the King James Version but I do occaisionally look to other materials to seek out clarity in the writings and check it against other versions to see what the original teaxt was about. First of all the KJV is an English translation and what the bible actually is comes from The Hebrew and Greek versions which are the origionals. Secondly, the KJV has mistakes in it also. It says that God created evil in the KJV version and mentions Easter when the word really should say Passover. It also is from old english which we dont use. The word charity today means something different. I think KJV is a good version but so it NKJV, NASB, CJB, NLT and NIV. These bibles are also used by Spirit filled Christians who love the Lord, who have sought the Lord to know His truth. Dont forget who King James was and do not forget that most of the King James is from the Tyndale version. Get a concordance and bible dictionary to see what the bible really says. In some cases some verses were allowed because the found a minimum amount of versions with the verse even though the majority of versions did not have it such as 1 John 5:7. research this for yourself.
Thirdly, the Spirit teaches us and guides us. Jesus has revealed the truth to us. I went to a church that used NIV when I was saved. Who are do we consider to be Christian? look nationally because Im not sure if youre southern baptist to hold those views, Is Billy Graham Christian? Does he have the Spirit? Which bible does he use? How about Charles Stanley....is he Christian? What bible doe he use? How about female speakers? Is Stormie O Martian Christian? What bible does she use? I will tell you these people are not KJV only people.
The word of God stands forever. God will not let it go into corruption. There are many good versions of the bible leading people to Christ. They are for God not against God.

Your research appears on the surface to be impressive. However, it is flawed. The most true and accurate English translation of Holy Scripture would be the Douay. The original Hebrew and Greek were translated to the Vulgate by St. Jerome in about the 4th Century and the Douay (Older than KJV) was translated into English directly from the Vulgate.
Very few steps from the original with precise translation. In fact, most of the KJV borrowed from Douay.

If you did your research you would also know the "Extra" 7 books found in the Catholic version of the Old Testament were originally in the actual 1611 King James Version and a few years later they were removed by Protestants. Yes, It's true....Catholics did not add extra books....Protestants removed books. How can the KJV be the one and only and final word in Bibles when it has gone through so many more revisions than any of the others?

That was way too long for me to read, FYI. I am actually trying to fit in as many people as I can. But I would like to respond to your statement;

I have found that the KJV, even though I prefer it over the NIV and the NLT in many cases, has been corrupted. You see, I do not need the Bible to be inerrant. I need it to be inspired. As Balaam's 'donkey' wasn't inerrant, but it was inspired, as I am not inerrant, just inspired, as any pastor I choose to listen to is not inerrant, yet inspired.

The text I wish to bring to your attention is Psalm 8:2
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength

That was a corruption influenced in by the Masorites who,called the Christians "Schizmatics" that were assembling the Textus Receptus in order to take away the truth about Jesus being the Christ. What we have though is older manuscripts nowadays that verify the verse which was quoted out of the 'Septuagint' by Jesus as the correct quote;
Matthew 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

So not strength, praise. And it happened. The Masorites knew it, so they attempted to change the scripture to read strength.

As I have said, I prefer the King James Version. But I find that those that say that it is uncorrupted are plainly wrong about it. The Bible is not meant to be inerrant, it's meant to be inspired and inspiring.

Your using Logsdon's rants create confusion, Erika. The poor fellow went far astray in the last few years of his life, and made himself a laughing stock among biblical scholars.

For example, Logsdon's claims to the contrary, the Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Alexandrius have never belonged to Rome and are now in the British Museum.

Personally, for accurate literal translations of the bible theologians like myself use the NASB or ESV translations.

I do enjoy reading the KJV and the NIV translations, but always go back to the Hebrew and the Greek for detailed analysis when the NASB or ESV translations are insufficiently illuminating.

OK great But if you were God and you wanted your message to be clearly understood by all why on Earth would you have allowed it to be written down by men using the fragile mediums of ink and parchment ? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have used gold-because of it's non corrosive properties- or possibly one of the hard steel alloys ?

I am a Christian and I agree that the KJV is the best and that is what I use. But if you find the KJV hard to read I would advise reading the NKJV it is easier to understand.
