Norton Anti Virus 2005.from google -google pack - add remove softwares.this is the reliable software.you can also download spybot and use it along with Norton anti virus.i do not have problems for the past one year.keep the programs updated regularly and scan for virus or problems as frequently as possible,if you surf internet a lot.other things are more effective.but not for free.do not try to download any other free things, your computer will be gone.

There is NO really good AntiVirus Software for FREE...
One of my friends was using AVG and thought it was the greatest Until he was infected by a Virus that Destroyed his operating system beyond repair and had to format reinstall from scratch!!!
So I told him about Kaspersky AV6 (XP/Vista compatible) and ever since then he hasn't got a single anything that's made it into his computer! (realtime+proactive protection)...Not to mention it updates it's definitions database every 3 hours!
Pay some money or your gonna PAY in the end...

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.
