I was at my best friend's house this past week and I came home and had a startling realization. We have been dancing around "dating" for about 9 months now, and out of the blue in January he told me the reason he couldn't pursue a relationship with me was because he realized that I was someone he could spend the rest of his life with. That whole situation really astounded and scared me. I really doubted him. He also said that this was the reason he couldn't date me right now. He isn't ready for that long of, or serious of a commitment and right now he wants to be the college boy. I understand that. We're both young. But what happens now that after this week, I realized that I am whole-heartedly sure that he is the person I will marry? That I am not doubting it any longer? What should I do while he "enjoys his college experience?" I know I am not ready for that level of commitment either. I know dating around would be good. But how can I when all I think about is him?

We are both in college at the same school... No one is leaving or going anywhere... Hell he lives 3 blocks from me! hahaha.

Let me pose this question to you: What if you're both wrong and aren't meant for each other? While he's been dating this whole time, you've been at home, pining for him. Now, you've had years gone without the experience of dating.

Dating does have multiple purposes. One, you definitely figure out who and what you want/don't want. Two, you figure out what changes need to be made in yourself. Three, you might stumble across someone who, out of the blue, becomes either a lifelong friend or more.

Good luck to you. :)
